And it tells time

i bought mine a month ago. At 79 years of age at first I felt overwhelmed. Can I get this device to even tell time? I had a Fitbit before. One shower ended its life. At least it died clean. it had been so long since I had purchsed a smart watch I was shocked to the prices had increased so much. Anyway I found this on sale on the Garmin website and bought it. The battery life has surprised me. It is many days. I use it for my chair cardio workouts and hikes. So, I probably have not put this watch through its paces. I also use it for text messages and Ring Camera alerts, On my old watch I had to speed read before the text disappeared forever. On my new Garmin they are saved until I delete. I even get pictures of the transgressor of my Ring coverage, So I am very happy with this watch. I have since bought a plastic screen protector and little plugs for the charging port. Two things I have found odd. #1 the charging cable. The connection end to the charging brick requires an Apple type charger. So I have to use my wife's Ipad charger. #2 it brings a smile to me when I am active and it tells me to get active. Last night I was out walking and it told me to get active. It is not as smart as I thought it was. Or, maybe I am not smart enough to determine how to turn off that feature. Time will tell. And speaking of time, I am glad it tells time too. Regards,

Great fitness watch!

I bought this looking for a great fitness tracker for overall workouts and runs with all of the tracking. I've had the watch for 2 weeks now and I really love the sleep tracker and the programmable workouts so I don't need to keep checking my phone. I also horseback ride and while I do hope that in the future, that feature will be available on this watch, the cycle feature does work just as well. Overall I'd definitely recommend!

Battery doesn't stay charged

Hello I just received a Garmin vivoactive 5 on Christmas and was very excited. One of the features that I was really excited about was the battery life, but so far very disappointed. my battery doesn't last more than 24 hours! I've tried all of the things to do, drained the battery entirely and cleaned the ports and no success!

Great battery life

I have had my vivoactive 5 for two weeks now. I simply love it. I was looking for a watch that had a longer battery life than my Lily 2 classic. (which I loved). I get 9 days before I have to charge. Still learning how to use all the features. Ony thing I really not keen on is the band. But easy to change.

long battery life, poor user interface

My second vivoactive with a break in the middle for 2 apple watches. Garmin charges once a week with GPS activity tracking having the greatest toll vs apple where i'd get 36 hours between charges. Decided to go back to Garmin after a multi-day hike with my apple requiring me to drag a battery pack along and never getting more than 10 miles of tracking before battery died. Don't love the garmin user interface and snow sports tracking is questionable having to manually mark runs. I'll use apple for snow sports but garmin for the rest. Fortunately i'm able to share and merge data between the 2 devices.

Not a good watch

I ordered a vivoactive and after four days of wearing it was clear that it dint accurately track steps, I.e. ran 8 miles and the steps were 13,000. I contacted Garmin support and they were glad to replace it. I Sent it in and 10 days later received a new vivoactive. I wore it two days and the same issue exists. I had an 11 mile day plus shopping and it only registered 20,000 steps. Done with this watch. Don’t waste your money.

So far, great fitness watch

I bought the Vivo Active 5 as an early Christmas gift to myself and have really enjoyed it so far. I had been working on lifestyle improvements for about 6 months prior to buying the watch and the information it gives me has really helped me keep my fitness and nutrition goals in mind and on track for the most part. Once I tailored the watch to my personal preferences I have been really pleased with the tracking and review system. I like the periodic motivational notes and reminders. The nudges to move are not too intrusive and are helpful reminders to get up and move if you are like me and sit for long periods of time for work. It has also been interesting to track my physiological information as I process stressful experiences psychologically. Super cool! I bought the vivoactive 5 instead of 6 because of the reviews on them and the fact that the vivoactive 5 watch does not need to contact "the Mothership", keeping the tracking information private, which was particularly relevant for me. The choice to connect to the app on my phone remains mine alone and does not force me to connect to be able to use the features of the watch. I would recommend this to anyone who is curious about their basic sleep, exercise, HRV, breathing, etc. I imagine focused athletes would require something a little more detailed. I may upgrade in the future!

Love the features

I received this as a gift for Christmas. Pros- set up is easy, using the workout features is easy after the initial use. The red light at night is the best feature ever. It is easy to read, navigating takes a bit to figure out but the buttons are big enough and use friendly. Cons- not to many but one is huge- Hear Rate - it is clearly not accurate and this feature needs fixing. It shows my HR at a Hiit level -150+ during steady state zone 2 elliptical work. My other band shows my HR around 90 during these workouts as did my Lilly. I would give 5 stars but this is a big error - it impacts the accuracy of my workout data, intensity minutes, recovery, etc. Overall- I love it but lets fix this issue and it will be 5 stars!

Love this watch!!

Love this watch!! It’s beautiful and looks in place both at the gym and at the office. The battery life has been awesome and I love that it updates itself without having to be attached to/synced up with a computer like my last one (VenuSq). Metrics track consistently with my prior watch and the face is easy to read and navigate. Love that there are so many options for the watch face, too. Very happy with this purchase!
