I am not much of a "canned meat product" fan but this meat was good and I loved the potatoes and carrots! Unless you are in a big hurry I suggest the menu on the can using biscuits. The beef is very soft and tender and there is no fat attached to it. This is an easy meal to prepare. I like it with a bit of bread because the bread tastes awesome with the gravy and it fills me up. I will continue to buy Dinty Moore Beef Stew.

As you read through these reviews, you notice that you're seeing a lot of negativity being expressed by dissatisfied customers. I did a little math and found that, within this forum, two out of three people are disappointed with Dinty Moore's new recipe. Dinty Moore used to use cubes of pot roast in their beef stew and now use hamburger meatballs instead. It's perfectly understandable that two out of three long-time customers would be annoyed by this. But let's put it in perspective. Sure, these old-timers want their pot roast back. But the new stew is tasty and palatable, has a nice ratio of meat to vegetables, is pleasantly seasoned, has good texture, and it hits the spot! When you get over the new approach to the meat content, you find you're enjoying it just as much as you used to. So stop complaining, folks! Face it, it's pretty good beef stew!

I grew up on this stuff; or at least what it used to be. I bought 2 cases when Dorian was supposed to wipe out Florida. Ate one can. Tasting the serious drop in quality, I'm donating the rest. You buy beef stew for the beef chunks. I only had a couple small pieces with a strange, unappealing texture. Hormel, Get your game back. This is not the quality product we had all grown to love.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not too long ago, I finished up a bowl of Dinty Moore's beef stew; and, I wanted to offer some thoughts. First, the last time I had the stew was a number of years ago -- before the use of the convenient pop-top lids... back when you had to use a can opener to get to your meal in a can. I noticed a few changes. First, it's now much easier to open the can, which is great. Second, inside the can, the veggies are exactly as I remember... big cuts of carrots, potatoes, etc. However, I seem to remember fairly generous cuts of actual beef. Now, the beef cuts seem smaller, and fewer. Also, they seem more like pressed meat chunks rather than beef. After putting the stew in a Mic-safe bowl and heating it up, I can say the taste is pretty similar to what I remember. However, for some reason, I remember a fuller taste, maybe more herbs and spices. But, I could be mistaken. I added fresh-ground pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder to the stew to liven it up a bit. I even added a dash of hot sauce to it. The meal was quite satisfying overall and filling. I'm not generally picky about meals. So, I enjoyed the stew, would buy it again, and would recommend it to others looking for a quick, filling, low-cost meal.
