I've been eating Dinty Moore Beef Stew for decades. I noticed a few years back, they changed the recipe and have struggled to buy any more. At first I thought I got a bad can so threw it out, but each can after that was the same. This may be gross to health nuts, but when there was no lard on the lid, I knew something was afoul. Anyway, wish they would revert back to the original recipe, but think I just ate my last can of it. So sad.

Love how much meat and potatoes were in it. Easy to make and a good substitute for soups and other stews that take a long time to cook. Convenient and fast to make

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dinty Moore Beef Stew is still just as great tasting as I remember from when my Mom use to serve it on a cold winter day back in the 1960's. When a company such as Hormel has been producting this stew for generations that speaks volumes as people such as myself really enjoy the flavor and ingredients that go into the making of this stew. The thickness and the ratio of the beef and vegetables was spot on. The Dinty Moore Beef Stew is fast and easy to prepare as I simply opened the can poured it into a sauce pan and placed on the burner and within just a few minutes I was pouring it into a bowl and sitting down and enjoying the savory taste.

I mixed with pasta. You changed the beef in the stew. It's more like dog food to me now. I've bought your stew for over 20 years. Now you've ruined it. You got cheap. The last two cans I bought I picked the meat out of it. I will buy it no more unless you change the beef back to you used before. Very disappointed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i just heated it up and added a little more seasons (after all i am from louisiana where we had a little food to our seasons) the stew had plenty of meat and potatoes and gravy. it tasted great and a can of it was more than i could eat. just take it out of the can and pot in micowave a couple of minutes and it is ready.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've heard of Dinty Moore Beef Stew, but never tried it before. The gravy has a nice flavor but could use a bit of pepper. The vegetables were tender as were the small pieces of beef. I personally think the sodium is high at 990 mg per serving but if someone isn't restricting their sodium amounts, they will like this stew as a lunch or as part of a dinner with additional sides. I'm not sure I would buy it again but I would recommend it if asked.

The potatoes had huge black spots on them that were hard and fibrous. Had to hand pick them off most of the potatoes which is not something you should have to do to have an already made meal in a can. It was the same for all three cans I bought so it had to have been a batch thing. We have been buying dinty moore beef stew for years. Don't know that we will do it again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product! Dinty Moore beef stew is so chunky and full of flavor! I definitely will have to keep this in my cupboard, for those nights I don't have time to cook. So much better than fast food.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very happy to try Dinty Moore Beef Stew. I can honestly say that it is delicious. I love that taste and it is a very filling snack or even a meal. I added bread and butter and was very satisfied with the amount of meat and vegetables in it. I am going to be sure to keep this is in my cupboard all winter.

When the product is on it's great. 5 stars for a canned product, 4 stars more generally. But it frequently is not on, and this has become an increasingly frequent issue as time goes by. Frequently they have clearly performed little to no quality assurance on the ingredients, and have likely actively reduced the quality over time because they think it's smart to reduce costs and quality at the same time. Sometimes the gravy is thin, light brown, and barely flavored. Frequently one or more of the carrot pieces is blackened and inedible, tainting the entire can with its wretched flavor. Sometimes the potatoes will still have seemingly dirty, unwashed skin still left on them, or will have green spots, or black spots, and similarly taint the can. If none of these happen it's a 4-5 star easy, enjoyable product. But if one of them does, and it seems pretty likely it will, it's a 1 to 2 star product, if it's even edible. I also agree with other reviewers that while this product once had something more like steak chunks in it, they have since been replaced with a lower quality, less flavorful ground beef. This company seriously needs to re-evaluate how it picks the quality of its ingredients, because right now they are doing it wrong on absolutely everything.
