Don't think it is broken when you pull out of box and it does not stay down. I like watching it brown the bread. I got the white one.

The defrost & reheat options are a great plus. Add the removable glass & tray for cleaning & this toaster is perfect.

The one drawback it has is that you can only toast one slice of the wide bread (or whatever you want to toast) because only one will fit in at a time. I now feel the need to have two toasters for when I want a sandwich.
