This is my second purchase of this bed. Two strikes, and I'm not going for 3. So, I figured for 20 bucks, it'd be fine if it only lasts 6 months. I have a HUGE border collie who grew to a lean 50lbs- much bigger than she was supposed to be. But she's old now and appreciates a little softness to lay on. This bed was *almost* big enough. I didn't measure it before I washed it, so I don't know its actual dimensions, but it's the size I have always bought for her. Unfortunately, she's presently in a cold war with a new cat we've adopted and that cat is sneakily peeing on her beds (and no where else). So the first one was destroyed when I washed it the way I have always washed beds in these situations- honestly, how are you going to spot clean or handwash the inner part of a dog bed like this? Maybe straight foam, but not chopped foam. Even on gentle, the cover opened up and foam was EVERYWHERE in the washer. My husband saved us a service technician visit by taking apart the washer and cleaning what he could. The washer now works, but weeks later pieces of chopped foam are still washing out of it. So I get bed #2. Not 24 hours goes by and despite our best efforts, another strike was accomplished in the cat's war with the dog. It didn't open up this time (on gentle in a commercial washer), but it's wadded up into a big ball. I'm going to try to fix it, but from now one I'm just spending the money on a decent bed. Those usually come with a liner so something like cat urine doesn't require the inside be washed as well as the cover. Or I guess I one could cover the inside with a garbage bag or something. The quality in all other ways is also lacking- the outer cover washes up looking like a 10 year old dog bed that's seen heavy use - and it was covered by a blanket for the <24 hours it was out of the box in my home. You definitely get what you pay for.
What happened to the incredible orthopedic dog beds Sam's used to carry? They were as nice as the ones people use- with a 30 buck price tag!
