The UV light attracts them, and they get stuck on the adhesive refill inside, so there's no spraying or dealing with a bunch of dead bugs flying around. I have mine plugged in where I noticed the most little flying bugs, and being able to just leave it there and let it do its thing is so convenient. We tried it in other areas of the house, and we still had fruit flies, and as you can see it has not caught many flies at all. It's basically just a big clunky plug-in that doesn't do much.

I wanted it in the kitchen but needed to find an area away from meal prep. The blue light is on all the time. Don't put it near a window or other sources of light as it'll distract the flying buggers (you want them to attract to the blue light). The indicator tells you when it's time to change. The only suggestion I have is that a replacement cartridge be included next time. Other than that, it has been great. No more sawtting around and messing with homemad deterrents.

The full size lasts a long time and I like the blue glow that it provides. The full size is on the larger size so you have to make sure you have room for it underneath your cabinets or wherever you are plugging it in.
