It fits a standard queen bed frame perfectly. You don't have to use a box spring. Although, I am using a box spring. Because I love the extra height. The website recommended using a very thin pad. It's very sturdy and seems to be dense enough to still feel soft and comfortable. We're all pretty much side and back sleepers so we've been getting extra good sleep lately.
