You do have to have a doorbell system already installed in your home to run it but it's almost as easy as 1, 2, 3! I'm able to see who comes to my door and any package that is left at my door so if anything happens, I can see everything from my phone no matter where I am. I absolutely love this so much! So glad I got this for my home!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Nest Doorbell is small but packs a mighty punch with all of its features. Right out the pack the instructions are very clear. It only took 3 hours for the initial charge and I haven't needed to charge it again! The instillation did take about an hour as the app and syncing was a bit confusing. After I got over that hurdle things went very smoothly. The best feature of this doorbell is it gives you a few hours of free recording without needing any subscription plan. The video clarity is perfect and the night mode is just as clear as daytime. The doorbell is able to sense the difference between an animal or a person and that avoids notifications for every little movement. From my doorway the camera does not have that great of a width of view because I have a large porch. This camera would be better suited for an apartment or a house with a narrow entryway. The camera takes videos vertically so I am able to see any person at my door from head to toe. The response time from the doorbell to the app is really quick and since using the doorbell I have not missed a visitor or a package coming to my home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was interested in the Nest Doorbell over other video doorbells because of the high rating from Consumer Reports for the wired version. I researched ahead of time and was under the impression this was compatible with Alexa, but after 2 hours trying to link this to my Alexa skill and lots of wifi/app and other troubleshooting and then more time for additional research it became clear that the battery version has no Alexa compatibility as of this writing. The wired version does. Seriously? We are an Alexa house. We had a doorbell but no way to hear audible chimes/alerts in the house (or see video) unless using the app on my phone. So I tried to figure out how I could make this work for us. SimpliSafe hub compatibility? Nope. Only the Nest Thermostat is compatible with the SimpliSafe hub. Are you sensing my frustration? So I bit the bullet and bought 2 Google Nest minis so that we could hear the audible chime in the house for the doorbell. Even with both of the minis at max volume for alerts, the chime is not as loud as our previous doorbell. As far as set up, it was quick and easy. FYI - you need a google email account for set up (I do not, my husband does). The Google Home app is straightforward to use and setting up the doorbell was easy. As far as installation, you will need to drill holes to install. In the 36 hours since we have been using this, the battery has gone from 100% (6mos) to 95% (4 mos). We are a family of 4 with average usage and camera activity. But it's been cold out, as in less than 25 degrees. So at this rate during winter, I expect to have to recharge the battery at 2 months or perhaps earlier. The battery is not able to be independently removed for charging (also not allowing me to purchase additional batteries for convenience). You have to remove the entire doorbell from the mount to charge it. Complete miss on this design. So, if the lack of Alexa compatibility, potential for short battery life, and the charging inconvenience aren't going to negatively impact you, you will probably have a more positive experience than I have. It's not all negative. The video is great, the response time is great and it looks nice. Wondering whether I would be happier with a SimpliSafe or Ring doorbell, but this is what we have so I'll stick with it for now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am late to the camera doorbell game as my house actually doesn't have a pre-wired doorbell, so I was pretty excited that Google/nest finally came out with a battery powered camera doorbell. Setup is pretty straight forward. You have to use the google home app, which I already had as I have the next thermostat and google Wi-Fi already. It pretty much walks you through step by step. Once setup and mounted, you're good to go. The battery is rated to last about 1.5-6 months depending on activity; I set mine up about 2 months ago and had to charge it already. It sends a push notification when the battery is low which is nice. Video and audio quality are both very good; you can also talk back to guests/visitors. When someone rings the doorbell, you get a push notification on the phone. If you have any of those google home speaker devices, a chime will play through those, but I don't have any so can't speak on that much. The only bummer about the device is video is only saved on the cloud for 3 hours. If you want a specific video you have to download it immediately or or sign up for the Nest Aware subscription. I also have Arlo wireless cameras and they offer unlimited video for up to a week before they auto delete the files from the cloud; it gives me plenty of time to view and save anything I want. It's quite a stark contract between the two brands. All in all, a very good product. Just wish they gave customers more free video time. But in terms of ease of setup, video quality, and now actually having a doorbell, I still recommend the product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just installed the Google Nest Doorbell – and so far, I can recommend it based on the fact that overall - it works great and does everything I'd hoped and expected. Here are the other pros: - Installation guide was easy to start and understand. - The actual connection to the permanent bracket is very simple and easy to use when needing to charge the doorbell. - Connection to the app and setting up the device was very straight forward. - Camera quality is good, as is the audio clarity for the microphone and speaker - Hoping battery life is good with video on its highest setting - to be determined,. There are a few cons: - Our mounting point is on Hardi siding, and the mounting bracket is not ideal for an angled surface such as this. It took a few tries to get a good spot on the siding that was vertical as needed. The resulting aesthetic is not ideal with empty space behind the bracket – it makes it look a bit temporary. - The battery powered version does not provide an audible ring tone outside, so people who press it may not have a sense of whether it's working or not. - I'm guessing this is user error – but the notification on my phone and iPad aren't audible. I almost wish the notification was a loud “ding dong” like a doorbell. - Adding family members to the Home account for access to this required a Google email account (not everyone in the family has one).

It is able to decipher between a person and package and alerts me of which. It is also able to tell me when the package is gone. It's pretty cool. It is very easy to install and set up. Very good quality. I highly recommend this product.

I don't live in a high-crime area, but you never know what can happen. Plus, with packages being delivered more than ever there's always a chance some porch pirate will show up out of the blue! This one's easy to install and I really like that it comes with a wedge-shaped piece that you can use to aim it somewhere other than straight ahead. That was smart thinking! The app is easy to use and the picture quality is very good.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sets up was easy, installation was a breeze and it is very functional. When i first opened the box , i was taken back from the size of this doorbell and was wondering if i will even fit. The installation process was easy, a little too easy. I got the doorbell to fix but hooking it on the backet took some time. My installathe battery setup. I kept the default settings on the app and the clarity of the camera is fantastic. I do feel like this is an upgrade over the previous Nest Hello doorbell largely due to the on-device biometrics. It's very impressive how quickly it can pickup a known face (almost instantly). The vehicle notifications are also very handy. Allows me to keep the motion alerts category of notifications off which provides a much quieter experience in terms of notifications. The video quality is just ok, but good enough for a doorbell. If you are looking for a doorbell this is the one. So far the device has been working great for me and consistently giving me alerts, usually within 3-5 seconds of the event. I definitely recommended this to anyone. A great product all round!
