Excellent in the wet and great looks

I replaced the factory tires on my 2005 Crossfire Roadster with these about 20,000 miles ago and although I have mixed feelings about the tires, am doing the rears again.  The Good: They are GREAT in the rain—those big grooves shift a lot of water. They also stick well in the dry making the twisty roads loads of fun. They look good from all angles. They are affordable. The Bad. They are LOUD. You won't be sneaking up on anyone at highway speed because they sing like a set of mudders on a 4x4. The other downside is not getting anywhere close to the 50,000 miles touted in the tread life warranty.

Transformative Tires!

I went from Good Year Eagle Sports to the General G-MAX tires on my 2013 Mini Cooper S.  Absolutely transformed how the car handles and rides. These are fantastic tires, quiet, sticky, great in hard rains. I will be looking at a set for my wife's car when she is due for new tires. I can not get over how affordable these tires were, and just how fantastic they are.

Good tire once the flat spot goes away

When my car has been sitting all night or day, the tires seem to flat spot and the ride is bumpy for a few miles until the flat spot works it's way out. Other than that they are good tires. Traction seems to be really good in the rain (haven't had snow since I bought them) and they have a former sideway than the Michelins I had so they don't seem to roll in curves. Probably not the traction of the Michelins on a track but I don't drive in a track and they give me a more stable feeling in curves at road speeds.

Smooth ride, good grip, decent thread wear...

I bough s set of these tires in April - 2019 for my son's 2016 VW Jetta. So far we have about 4k miles on them, and I am pleased with their performance. They ride very smooth, good grip, thread wear is decent, overall for the price I would say pretty good buy. They were little noisy at first at certain speed range (midsize around 50 mph or so), but now it seems much quieter. These are made in the US, they were road force balanced and numbers very pretty low (6 - 14 lbs), which is a good thing, no complaints at all. I would recommend these!

Quiet, decent grip, good for street driving

2017 BRZ, occasional autocross.  This tire does not hold up well in autocross.  Not enough grip for racing, BUT... This is an excellent tire for the road!  Quiet, grippy on the road for normal driving.  I am a spirited driver and street driving it completely satisfied me.  Way more than enough grip than you need, but just not for autocross, as expected.    This tire squeal when they approach their limit, which is good warning sign, especially for drivers who is not familiar with the limited state of their car.

Used to be good, won't buy again.

I am on my third set of G-Max AS-05s. The first two sets were great. I got decent mileage out of them and they handled reasonably well for the price. The third set, however, is crap. A few months after I installed this set I drove in the rain and the car was totally uncontrollable above 45 mph. I mean, crazy unstable. I took the car back to the tire store and they did a road force balance on them. As it turned out, one of the tires was very much out of round, almost to the point where they would recommend replacement, but of course, not quite. The road force balance helped some, but it still feels unstable at higher speeds in the wet.

Great tire for the price

I purchased a set of these almost a year ago now and have been satisfied with the quality and performance. They do ok driving to the ski hill during the winter, although Subarus do much better w a studded tire in winter. They're great in the rain and dry conditions. I usually buy a much more aggressive tire for my Subaru but in an attempt to save some money, these made the cut. I spent 2 months shopping for just the right deal on just the right tires.

They are still new; they work well

These tires are still brand new with less than 5k miles on them, but since General tire is insisting I write a review on them; here it goes.  These G-Max AS-05 replaced Mich Pilot Sport AS-3s that were on the car for about 4 yrs/40k miles and were down to 3/32. The AS-3s did well and I had no complaints other than the tire got louder as the tread wore down (most tires do this so nothing out of the ordinary).  Price was a primary factor in choosing the General G-Max AS-05 over similar tires from the top brand in this category and the General's were at least 10%+ less expensive than then next brand tire. [brands considered: Nokian, Michelin, Bridgestone/Firestone]  As far as the (still new) G-Max AS-05 goes, so far, so good.  The new tire is relatively quiet on the SW OH roads (highway and back roads) I drive.  The 5 or less chances I've driven in the rain were fine with no drama.  The tires seem to take the occasional fast entrance/exit ramp without complaint and the outer shoulder tread blocks offer nice/decent grip.  The car will not see auto-cross or other track time so I cannot comment on their ability to be ""quick"".  Winter is coming and this will be the first time they will potentially see the white stuff.  As with any (new) AS tire, I think they will do fine as long as I don't over drive the tires' abilities.  Again, so far so good.  When the time comes for the next set of tires, I will see if the G-Max AS-05 or successor is available and definitely consider it.  Performance per dollar spent is a good ratio with this tire.

quick and tight

these tires sticks and are therefore are very good in cornering in wet or dry surfaces, we don't have snow so i can't comment on that and surprisingly comfortable.  thread life seems ok too but can't firmly say that since i drove less since covid started.  overall i feel safe and like a rockstar with these tires, go get them.

Smooth when slow, smooth when fast

I have put about 18,000 miles on these tires with a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L 4cly. I live in SouthEast Ohio and travel regularly into Southern West Virginia, so we are talking about curvy, mountainous roads that are not exactly the best maintained. The tires handle and brake great, the ride is smooth, the car corners well into and accelerates out of curves with control. The car handles rain adequately in all conditions. And I have had the tires on more than one dirt road with little issue. Bottom line, my next set of tires will be General GMax.
