I'm 69 and have used ...

I'm 69 and have used Michelins exclusively for as long as I can remember. We have 2 vehicles, a1996 Ford F-150 and a 1997 Ford Expedition. These vehicles have a combined mileage of close to 400,000 and have been Michelin equipped since new. The tires wear like iron and yet offer an extremely comfortable and quiet ride, providing superior wet weather driveability.

Quality Tires

Michelin Tires provide a smooth ride as well as wear at least as good as the mileage warranty. I purchase Michelin for all my cars after the original equipment tires wear out and they are usually the last tire I need. With the price of mounting and balancing tires today why would you want to run a cheap tire and pay this over and over again. I have never had a problem with any Michelin tires I have ever owned!

Should I be happy with the mileage (over 90K miles)?

I bought these tires (LT265/75R16) several years ago for my Nissan Frontier after the factory originals wore out after about 40K miles. I currently have almost 100K miles on these and they are just now telling me that I need to think about replacing them. I am planning on keeping my truck (only 140K miles on it) so I am looking for the same model tire.

Good till the last mile!

Sometimes it takes awhile to realize there are products that paying alittle extra for up front return far greater value AND performance over the long term. Michelin LTX M/S - LTX M/S2 tires examplify that truth. After several sets of supposedly "quality" 6-ply tires for our Suburban used to pull our Airstream trailer and having a tread separate on the last set while towing at 55 mph on a very not day in northern California, we installed Michelin LTX M/S tires and have nothing but good things to say. First the Michelin tires DO NOT LOSS AIR PRESSURE between our trips like the previous "quality" tires did. Second the Michelin tires are more round AND required minimum wheel weights to balance. Thus the ride quality is far superior to the previous "quality" tires. Third even running the same 75 or 80 psi as done previousily with the other "quality" tires in the rears on the Suburban, the stability of the Michelin's is far superior. Bottom line, I have recommended Michelin to all that will listen in our Airstream group and many are making the switch as I did. FYI we recently purchased an Yukon XL to replace the aged Suburban with over 200,000 miles and had the new LTX M/S2's installed. Looking forward to many, many trouble free miles traveling the western US on our Michilin tires! Best Regards, TKNELLE Alamo, CA

Extremely Dissatisfied

I purchased a new set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires to replace my worn tires on my Honda CR-V. I did about two months of research and found the Defenders to be the best value for what I needed in snow and highway conditions. I can not express how disappointed I am with the handling and ride comfort of these tires. The slightest gust of wind nearly knocks me off of the road as well as extreme vibrations at 60 - 70 mph. Cornering and fast manuvering is nearly impossible and extremly dangerous at highway speeds. I have had these tires rebalanced twice as well as having my CR-V looked over by the Honda dealership to see if it was a problem with my car. I was told by the dealership that it was the new Defenders I had installed and that there are no issues with my vehicle. This was my first and will be my last Michelin purchase.

Hit or Miss

These tires are hit or miss in my opinion. They perform great in snow and ice, but the My first set lasted maybe 25,000 miles, while the second set have 50,000 miles on them and still look brand new. I was told the reason why my first set wore out so quickly is because my tie rods needed to be replaced and this voided the warranty. Not sure if that's true or not, but the original set had little pieces of rubber chunking off regardless if they were on the front or back.

Fantastic Tire

My new GMC 1500 Denali came from the factory with Bridgestone tires. I asked the dealership to change out to Michelin that I had been running various models on my trucks for over 30 years. They declined and said the Bridgestone tires were "just as good". At 186 miles, on the freeway at 80 mph the left rear Bridgestone completely came apart. It delaminated like retreads do on tractor trailers. I was able to pull the truck over, put on the spare and drove back to the dealership I've never had a tire come apart like that. After a bit of a discussion with the Sales Manager the dealer persuaded GMC to replace the tires with the Michelin Defender LTX M/S. Couldn't be happier. The tire is quiet, handles like a dream and I don't worry about the quality. "Just as good" means inferior in my mind.

Where the rubber meet the road

I drive my vehicle 100+ miles every day. I've ran over debris that should have damaged or destroyed my tires. To this day I can honestly say that I only have one(1) damaged area on my tires which has not impaired the driveability or road worthiness of the tires. The make and model of my vehicle was not truly designed to provide a comfortable ride, but ever since I installed the Michelin LTX M/S my vehicle handles better than expected. The tread wear on my tires has exceeded my expectations and I'm not done yet. Whatever you did to make the LTX M/S please don't change the formula because that's a darn good tire.
