As a diehard gel pen enthusiast, I figured this Pilot Precise V5 Black would be scratchy and skip like a broken record. But wow, was I wrong! This pen writes like a dream. Smooth, consistent ink flow with zero dryness, even when gliding across different papers. The fine tip surprised me – it delivers sharp, crisp lines that are perfect for detailed writing. But the true test came with my husband, the pen aficionado (and Kanji writer!). He can be quite picky, but even he was impressed. He loved the comfortable grip and how effortlessly the pen maneuvered, making his Kanji characters look incredibly sharp. This Pilot Precise V5 Black has officially converted a gel pen purist and earned a permanent spot in my (and my husband's!) pen collection. 5 out of 5 stars!

The best part is that it does not smudge at all, which is crucial for someone who does a lot of writing. The feel of it is subjective - personally I prefer the G2 (also by Pilot) in terms of grip, but the ink behaves very differently so there are trade offs. I'm sure I will continue to use both.

My only struggle with it is that you have to keep the pen pretty upright to have it work properly, so if you write with your pen at a good tilt then this might not be the right pick for you.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is great for needing a pen that can write in small spaces. The ink dried quickly on regular paper and didn’t seem to smudge. However I used it daily for about 2-3 weeks and the ink seemed to run out quickly which was disappointing. Not sure I would buy these again because it didn’t seem to last.

It has a slim barrel which makes it easy to handle, and an extra fine tip - perfect for writing in calendars and journals. The ink hasn't smudged so far, which is a huge plus considering in a rolling ball pen. I like that it comes in different ink colors as I like to color code my calendars and notes, so will be purchasing more of these in the future.

Cards or paper and it has handled both very smoothly and it's comfortable to hold. Also love the feature of visible inkwell so you know when ink is low. Definite recommend!
