Instant shade

I was needing shade on my pool deck after limbing up several trees. This canopy was exactly what I needed. It is amazing the difference in the temperature underneath it.

Shade, shade, and more shade

Loved it so much ordered a second one for other side of the patio to block morning sun. Gets really hot from sun's rays here in Arizona. Good value for the money.

Great shade

Poplock X-wing has been beneficial for shade and acts like a patio cover for shade. After one week it has been one of the best shades yet. Sheds water like feathers and so far has sustained wind.

Great pop up

This is a great sturdy pop up tent. Although it is a little on the heavy side. But once you catch on how to pop it up it’s great. It does have a bag with wheels to make it easier to transport.

Nice, but be careful who helps you fold it up.

On the second time I used this, what started as a nice calm fall day started to get a little too windy. I had several people come over to help me and my wife take down the canopy. But the arms that turn the 10 x 10 base into a 13 x 13 canopy cantilever and lock into place, and when you take the canopy down, it's important to push those arms up before pushing the canopy together. Unfortunately, my helpers started moving inward as soon as I had released the center lock (and before I could tell them about the arms) and two of the main bars snapped in the middle from the stress. So, now I have yet another useless awning. This one just died faster than any of the others, which is a shame, as it had a lot of nice features: Pluses: The PopLock is relatively easy to use, and no more pinched skin opening or closing it (you do have to be in the center of the canopy to use it, which means crawling under a low canopy, or pushing up on a tall canopy). And in order to lock it, you are basically lifting up the canopy (or at least half of it). But you can also move it a few feet by yourself (if you are strong enough to lift the weight and tall enough) just by pushing up on the center. The vented top works well, both for releasing heat, and letting moderate wind escape. The aluminized coating also keeps it cooler underneath than a non-coated tap. There are two sets of stakes, one heavy set for the legs, and one lighter one for the corner ties. You can make the canopy secure in wind stronger than the canopy structure can withstand. Minuses: It is pretty heavy, and long when folded. I can't carry it across the back of my mid-sized SUV. Those aforementioned cantilever arms make quick takedown more difficult. The top vent is a separate piece of cloth, and the little arms that hold it on are a bit fiddly. You have to make sure it is on correctly before erecting the rest of the canopy, since you won't be able to reach it when it's fully open. And while it is a nice "fuse", this piece does blow off with strong winds, I would recommend it, but with some caveats. 1) It is more sensitive to wind than similarly priced 10 x 10 canopies (but it offers quite a bit more area). 2) You need to have experienced people help you take it down to prevent damage. 3) It's pretty heavy. And big when folded.

IMPRESSIVE!!

Larger than a normal popup, this has great shade coverage. in addition (and the reason i went with this model after having many of the conventional popups from a variety of manufacturers is that this unit has the one handed central hub locker and with the “extended-corner-eaves" that open and fold automatically. It’s very cool and comfortable shade and I get a ton cf compliments every time I set it up.
