We needed a winter grass to secure dirt work

We did a bunch of dirt work in our backyard for drainage problems. It destroyed the grass. We needed to secure the dirt from new rains. This seed grew faster than expected, even though a cold front came through and it was below 60°. It is now very thick and lush in January

Go-to grass seed for Kentucky lawns!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pennington Kentucky 31 Tall Fescue Grass Seed has been a great choice for my lawn here in central Kentucky. The seed covers a good area, and the grass has a nice coarse texture. Once it starts growing, it's impressive how well it holds up against drought and helps prevent erosion. In my opinion, the instructions for planting were clear and easy to follow, making the entire process straightforward.

Kentucky 31 Tall Fescue is the best!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I grew up with farmers and Kentucky 31 tall fescue was the most versatile, fast growing fescue around. It is especially good for yards and fields that have a lot of open fields around. We used the Pennington Kentucky 31 to fill in some bare spots in our back yard. Within a few days, we already had a great stand of grass. It is great seed!

Good seed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really liked this seed. Most of it germinated and while it is still young grass, my yard looks better. It was nice and green when it came up. There were some weeds mixed in but I was able to quickly pull them to make sure they didn't spread. This isn't the first bag of seed that I have used that has some other stuff mixed in so I was not shocked.

I would not buy this grass seed again

I tried to fix approx. 3 ft. X 4ft spot and got zero results. I have tried in early spring and recently and no grass. but when i put your bird food in my bird feeders I get results all around my feeders. I recommend you start selling your bird food as grass seed. I don;t require a refund , I just want you to know your grass seed doesn't work for me. I plan on switching to a different brand this fall. I live in Charlotte N.C.

Product works if you water the correct way

I read comments and I see others saying i never have had a problem with this seed been using it for 8-10 years you can't over water and must but a light mist of water making sure your soil stays moist not muddy it should not look wet. seed will rot. I learned that if you use a mister or light sprinkler setting for about a 1-2'Min early morning if you can mid day and evening only mist you will have best results also for those spots that don't catch the birds do also eat the seed. For those who have had a bad experience try this out. Hope it works for you.

Kentucky bluegrass honest review

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am writing to share my experience with the performance of Kentucky bluegrass in my yard over the past few months, I got this to fill in bare spots that my pet has created. Overall, Kentucky bluegrass has performed moderately in my lawn. The grass established itself within 3 to 4 weeks and developed a dense, attractive green color that really improved the curb appeal of my home. One of the key strengths I observed was its ability to self-repair from minor damage and wear, especially in high-traffic areas of which my dog maintains. Its fine texture and rich color made it visually appealing, and I appreciated how well it tolerates my mowing schedule, which was typically once per week. However, I did notice that Kentucky bluegrass struggles during the hotter, drier months. Without consistent watering, certain patches run dormant and loses color, particularly in full-sun areas my shaded area of my house flourished. I maintained the lawn with regular mowing, watering, and soil conditions here are clay with undernutrition soil. Under these conditions, the grass performed above expectations for as hot as I planted it. In conclusion, Kentucky bluegrass has been a challenging experience. A great addition to my landscape. With proper care, it provides a lush, classic lawn appearance, but it does require consistent watering and maintenance during the summer heat.

Pennington grass seed will create the lawn of your dreams!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this sample bag for free as part of my review. I recently had a large oak tree removed from my yard, and this product arrived just in time. After spreading this over part of the spot needing coverage, and just a few days of watering later, I began to see new grass growth coming through. I went out and picked up another bag and finished covering the rest of the area. The spot is filling in nicely, and by spring nobody will even know there had been a tree there for over 40 years. Next year, Pennington will be the brand I choose when aerating and seeding my lawn.

Defeated by Pennington

I overseeded using the 40# bag. Now everywhere I planted it, this horrible, shaggy, fast growing, wide bladed monster grows. It looks terrible. I had a lawn expert look at it, and he recommended killing the lawn with glysophate herbicide and starting over. The good news is that the muddy areas in my lawn have been replace by something green. (Planted spring 2021)
