Easy to Start

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 3rd Generac portable generator not because the other ones went bad, but because we use all 3 as a service provider. These always start easily and provide the power we need at the various locations were landed power is not available. Fuel consumption is not the best, but you sacrifice using fuel for the amount of power you actually need. So my recommendation is don't oversize your generator to much for what you actually need.

A very reliable product

Purchased on the day hurricane Sandy arrived. I ran it for 12 straight days without a problem. I only turned it off to change the oil 3 times. Very well made and dependable. A bit noisy but most gas generators are. Only knock is that the gas gauge stopped working after 2 days.

This generator is really worth the money.

I just purchased this generator and it was very easy to put together right out of the box. I followed the instructions in the book and added the oil and then gas. I turned the choke on and then hit the start button. The generator started right up. My friend who was helping me thought it was going to be louder than what it was. I too was surprised at how little noise it made. I then tested the voltage in all of the plugs. Everything was right where it should be. I hope I do not have to use it as a backup, but if I do I'm sure it will do the job with no problems. I bought this for our house for when our power goes out, which happens quite often. I also bought it with the intention of using it when we build our log home. I know it will be able to power all of the equipment while we work.

Good Value

Bought this machine to use during a power failure. Found a great price on line, with free liftgate shipping. Started up first time right out of the box, so that was encouraging. Startup procedure is simple. Has sufficient capacity to run my well pump, fridge, microwave, lights, TV's and computer. Have only run it to check out the new transfer switch and panel, but it ran smoothly throughout. Kinda noisy, but won't be running it at night anyway. Lacks a power meter and the fuel level gauge is pretty cheesy.

This a great generator and it is priced right.

I use my generator to power my house when the electricity goes out. It is sized just right for what I need. It is easy to start and set up. With the fold down handle attached it makes it very easy to maneuver the unit wherever you need it or to store it away. I have researched and used a lot of other generators and this is the best so far. I am very happy with this unit and I am sure it will bring me years of service.

Good value

Bought for emergency use only, to power a sump pump and maybe a gas fired heating system in winter. Used only once so far, to help a friend during power outage. It started up easily. They were able to run their heating system (hot air), which was nice because temp was down to freezing at night. Since then I tested it one other time during mid-winter, to make sure it would work in cold weather, and it started up no problem. This unit has one duplex outlet with 15 amp breaker. Only enough power for essentials, but that's all I wanted. It is relative small, and one able bodied person can move it if required.

Very satisfied

I cannot argue against Generac generators. For reliability, dependability and overall satisfaction I recommend getting yourself a Generic. Yes, Generacs' do cost a little more but you get what you pay for. However they are not the most expensive generator company. So, don't skimp on safety and comfort due to price. Go the extra mile and buy yourself a piece of mind. I bought myself a portable generator GP1500E to be sure I have what I need.

Perfect for outages

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love my Generac generator! It puts out when we are in need. It can run my entire house, lights, stove, refrigerator, and window units. It looks great and it's handle makes it easy to pull.

I believe it is the best value for the money.

This unit is very easy to set up and use. Ran the electrical system to my breaker box and it does an excellent job. the exhaust is a little noisier than I would like but well worth the money. Very neat machine and no rattles. I would like to see the battery cables re- configured to make the battery easier to hook up because I keep the battery in our home where it is warmer. Maybe clamps instead of the small bolts and nuts for the positive and negative terminals on the battery.

Quick Start, solidly built

I live in the Northeast corridor and have decided this wacky weather is no fun w/o electricity. Purchased the GP6500E w/ manual transfer kit. Assembly was easy. Started right up w/ the electric ignition. Contracted a local electrician to install the transfer box. Straight forward and no surprises, other than needing a 60 amp main breaker. Electrician commented on the box and said the set-up was pretty slick. Prepared and waiting for Mother Natures next haymaker.
