So simple even the mrs can do it

We frequently are affected by power outages so an emergency power source is a necessity. We chose the 7500E because of the electric start and the 7500 watts ,in less than 5 minites we are powered up and comfortable. I highly recommend a transfer switch,it makes the transition to standby power effortless. The 7500E provides more than enough power for our home.

Better than I thought.

Needed to go with a larger unit than what I had due to geothermal system. Wanted something to fill up, plug in, and hit transfer switch. This unit gives me ample power for the heat, a/c, well, and the other critical needs. Would like to had a home standby unit but could not justify the cost due to where electrical service was and where gas service was located. The hookups were the killer for a home standby unit, not the cost of the unit itself. This unit will provide everything I need and then some. Have not run full load test yet but smaller loads were handed spot on. Usually power outages in our area run 5-24 hours so this unit will be great.

Great Generator if you can get it started and keep it going.

One reason I purchased this generator was for the ease of starting it with the electric starter when the power goes out. The first week I had it, it started right up, but once I removed the trickle charger that came with it for a couple days it wouldn't start. I figured it had a bad battery or a short in the system, so I took it to a Generac authorized repair shop to have it checked out and they said the battery was bad and replaced it. Sad to say the new battery was also dead after sitting a couple of days. I did some research on the internet and discovered that this Generac Model had issues of shorting out and causing the battery to drain and die. I installed an on/off toggle switch to isolate the battery when not in use and that fixed the shorting out issue. One other issue that I've ran into, is that this CO sensor is almost too sensitive, if the wind blows the exhaust back towards the generators CO sensor it will shut down unexpectedly, so I have to position the exhaust pipe towards the same direction as the wind is blowing. Now that I know what it takes to get this generator started and keep it going it's actually a really good generator and it performs well, it's just not user friendly.

Powerful Generator

I purchased this portable unit about 3 weeks ago, and it is a wonderful generator. I do have a few issues with it though. First off, it is way to loud. I had to build a house for it about 100 ft away from the house to avoid hearing about it from my neighbors. My other issue is being able to read the fuel gauge to know how much fuel is in the tank without me having to look directly inside the tank. I had a GP3250, and it was very easy for me to read the fuel gauge, but the fuel gauge for the 7500E is not reader friendly. Besides those issues, I have to admit that it has a lot of power to keep your house powered up for a lengthy period of time.

Economical for size, dependable, easily portable,& easy to use.

I served in the emergency field for years before retiring. In that time, Generac products, especially the generators were used more often than not. The reliability and dependability and ease of use is what sold me on Generac. Great value for such a work horse.

The GP6500E is just what I needed for my 5th wheel camper.

I had researched different generators for use with my 5th wheel camper. I wanted a output range of 6000 - 7000 watts. In looking at the various brand that were available on the market I found that the Generac GP6500E was within the range I wanted. It had the option of battery or pull start with a battery wall charger. There was a 120/240 twist outlet that I would be able to use a twist adapter to convert to the existing power cord on the camper. The large capacity fuel tank would give me longer times between fill ups. With the additional four 120 volt outlets I could also plug in any additional electrical component outside the camper. My determining factor was that Generac makes generators of all ratings and uses and that they would have the dependability and reliability that I would need. They also have a toll free number to call for service 24/7.

GP7500E Portable Gen. Runs well but......

Ever since I bought this in May of 2014, I have yet to get it started using the battery. I can pull start it but my wife can't due to the fact it's pretty hard to pull start. Battery doesn't even turn over the motor even after a full charge. Called customer service today and they were helpful but now I have to bring to get it fixed at a authorized dealer.

Very high quality produce with lots of features

This unit is a very high quality product. You will be impressed right out of the box before you finish the simple assembly. Lots of features. Reminds you when maintenance needs performed. I especially like the four outlet cord that comes with it. This cord allows you to use both legs of the 240 volts instead of just one side. This gives you the ability to use the full rared output of the generator not just 1/2. The receptacles on the control panel also allow for this same usage. the automatic throttle control saves fuel as I usually do not need 8000 watts of power when dry camping with my RV. I just retired from 47 years in factory skilled trades maintenance and I am a skilled trades instructor at a local 2 year college and I am very impressed with this generator.

The gas on/off switch is not well illustrated on machine or in manual

I just bought a GP8000E, so I'm just getting familiar with it. I did buy it through a support company that will be maintaining it for me. So far, my one suggestion would be to clearly mark the gas on/off switch. It's not clearly marked on the machine. The company did add a green marker for "on," but none for "off." The sticker you have on it does not help at all. I had to call my support company to find out that when the switch is set to noon and 6, the gas is on, and when set to 9 and 3, the gas is off. The manual does not illustrate this very well, either.

Great generator. Manual needs improvement.

Excellent performance immediately after first start. Just what we need for sump pump power. Although assembly is not difficult, the manual for assembly could be improved: The parts could be better identified, and the pictures are too small to be of any help.
