I lost power due to tropical storm Micheal and now I have this awesome generator that starts up first pull.

I live in virginia we just lost power due to tropical storm micheal. So I finally had some money and was searching around for a good generator. I went to lowes and found the last GENERAC GP 6500 CO-SENSE it was brand new but box was messed up so lowes gave me a discount. I have always heard there great generators this is my first time buying one,and I'm very very impressed. The set up was easy just putting on 2 wheels and 2 front rubber stoppers.Put oil that came with in,and filled it up with gas,one pull and bam started right up.I filled it up and started so far 3 times and everytime one easy pull starts up easy. Not 2 loud I have it bout 12 ft front of my door hardly hear it in the den which is near it in a double wide trailer. My family is happy thanks 2 Generac I like the features and is safe for my family I also notice which is rare for a generator it doesn't get to hot which makes it safe for my lil ones walking by.I don't have it hooked up 2 house yet just running 2 cords to house with 3 ways on it,and have it going to 3 of my big fish tanks, fridge, freezer,tv,playstation microwave, everything is running great which I was worried at first.I highly recommended your product to anyone now thanks to generac great generators my family is happy:)

This is a great generator!

Come January 2021 this unit will be one year old.Every three months we charge it for 24 hours. When ever I go out and start it up THERE are no problems what so ever.I like to run it ever so often so I know all works find.We are lucky that we have not needed to use it for a back up yet!!You see we live in Northern Ontario Canada where we get lots of snow and very COLD weather! I know if and when the time comes this unit will stand up to it's job.

A great backup system

We had a standby 12K natural gas backup generator from Generac in upstate NY and when we moved to eastern North Carolina we had nothing so we decided to go with a portable. Purchased the Generac 7600E (electric start) and had a electrician wire a 10 circuit panel into our house circuits. When the power goes out, we just plug the generator into the house circuits, start it and turn on the house circuits 1 at a time. Works wonderfully. My only wish is that the electric start battery system had a meter to tell the user how much voltage was left in the battery. Overall cost about $1500.

Can't wait for a power outage now!!

As a homeowner, I am thrilled to have the generac generator. It was really easy to set up and it starts so easily with the electric start. Having a quiet muffler was also important to me. It' a convenient size to store in my garage and pull outside as needed to use.

Good machine. CO sensor and GFCI to sensitive

GFCI trips when I plug in my refrigerator. CO sensor keeps shutting down my unit that is placed outside not even close to my home. I had to put a box fan under the handle to blow air across the unit to keep it running. I dont need the CO shutdown. Other than those 2 items I am impressed.

Leaks gasoline like a faucet

I bought a GP7500E that leaks gasoline from the carburetor like a faucet. The same problem with the GP5500 has been well documented on the internet and YouTube, yet the Generac rep I just spoke to on the phone has "never heard of the problem" - apparently cause by a cheaply made corroding float needle. Another company used the same carburetor on their generators, but at least they had the decency to conducting a recall for their customers and send out new carburetor kits. I'll never buy another Generac based on the company's lack of safety concern regarding these leaking carburetors. The service center charges $100 to pick it up under warranty. Thanks, Generac. I'll buy a better made replacement needle for this carburetor from from Honda and repair it myself. Anyone considering purchasing a Generac portable generator should Google "Leaking Generac Carburetor" before purchasing from this company. They're product is an obvious fire hazard. (I doubt you'll post this on your website, but I WILL be posted this review on other retailer websites, too -- just because Generac has "never heard of this float needle problem". Serial# 5978320A

Can't depend on OGE anymore….

OGE is having major issues of late on our grid. Past Sunday the weather got to -4 …. windchill -15. My electric went off for over 5 hrs and I ended up replacing the pipes in the well house due to everything freezing up. I researched and decided to purchase this Generac 7500. Very glad I did. We've another major storm brewing this upcoming weekend and I wanted to be ready. I can't depend on OGE anymore and having an alternative power back up gives me the feeling of control and power over my situation. Instead of being a victim of OGE.

Ready for a power outage!

We have had several power outages in our area due to different readons, mainly vehicles hitting power poles and a few bad thunderstorms. No wanting to wait hours to get power restored, we decided to get a generator. We chose the GP8000E and we are very happy with it. We were able to hook up our entire home to it using a transfer switch. We shut our main power to the house and turned the generator on and it worked like a charm! All of our lights came on, our refrigerator and furnace did great, and we even tried our A.C. unit. We are happy with it. Next time there is a power outage in our area, we will be ready for it! Thanks!

Well made, easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Generac generator arrived in a large box and was pre-assembled. The product is bright orange making it easy to spot in our unorganized garage. It was easy to use and instructions were simple. I would recommend everyone has a generator in their home in the event of emergency or prolonged power outage. This would easily power our freezer/refrigerator. It is also compact enough that you could take it camping or to an outdoor event. The only small complaint would be with regard to packaging. As we all know, items shipped get banged around and my generator had a small crack in the outer plastic casing. It was nothing that prevented it from working properly but if it was shipped further perhaps more damage would have been done so I would suggest more padded materials inside the box.

Runs great and does the job but co sensor is a problem for me

The previous Generac generator was run in a plastic garden box that had two doors and a roof that you could raise for ventilation. I ran that generator for 15 years before it gave up the ghost. With the new generator with the co sensor it will not allow me to run it in that box. I had to run it outside in a rain storm. Anybody have an idea what I can use to protect the generator in bad weather that won't blow away?
