NOT USED YET

GOT MY GENERATOR, HAD NOT BEEN FOR HAVING A CHAIN HOIST , DOUBT THAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT WHEELS AND FOOT ASSEMBLY ON. SOME PARTS WERE MISSING SUCH AS WASHERS, NOT A BIG THING, ONE SPACER FOR THE WHEELS HAD TOO BE GRIND DOWN TO FIT. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN? ALL OTHERS THING WORKED , START UP ETC. HAVE NOT YET A CHANCE TO PUT IT TOO THE TEST UNTIL NEXT POWER OUTAGE. SO PERFORMANCE CANNOT BE COMMENTED ON. GENERATOR QUITE HEAVY BUT WAS ABLE TO PUSH AROUND IN SPITE OF MY AGE OF 65. UP HILL GRADES A DIFFERENT STORY.

Caught fire. Been waiting several months for warranty repair

After only 75 hours of operation, my generator control panel caught fire at the 230VAC outlet. I took it to an authorized service center in September, where I was told it would be covered under the warranty. It is January and I am still waiting for the repair to be completed. Otherwise it is a great generator. I bought 2 more, 1 for each of my 2 sons. I just wish the warranty service was more timely.

Big enough for the job.

Shaky start with this machine. Dead battery out of the box and loose contacts in the outlets. Wheels adequate for concrete, but wish they were larger and fatter for moving through gravel. Starts easily. Noise is at 73 DB as stated. Factory Service center took care of the battery problem, but wasn't concerned about loose contacts in outlets. Duh. Sometimes no juice comes out of the 110v side. Have to fiddle with the plugs to make contact. Had a short power failure after purchasing and debugging the generator. Decided to wait for daylight before hooking up generator, but by then power was back on. Because of the garage door design, I will make a shed for the generator's outside storage next to the 220V receptacle. Secondary purpose for the generator is to power the community well in our plat, if needed; hence the need for wider tires when moving the generator through the gravel to the pump house. I think the generator is worth the cost, but am sorry the Factory quality control was sloppy. I wish the factory would actually run the machine and completely test it prior to shipping. A little odor in the gas tank at the store is a small price to pay for enhanced reliability. Nice to have features: a battery feedback circuit, and an output meter advising how much wattage is being drawn by the system being supported by the generator. Best advice I can offer to a buyer is buy the generator in June or July. I didn't get around to purchasing my generator until winter, and there was no selection available in two Counties. This machine was literally the only generator of this class available. I went looking for an 11,000 watt machine and had to settle for this 8,000 watt machine. I think it will run the pumphouse. Maybe I'll never have to find out.

Very satisfied! Not worried about the storms now.

I am very impressed with my model of Generac. I purchased this model after seeing my neighbors in use and I was impressed. Used for home backup and miscellaneous jobs. The electric start makes simple for my family to get running with no assistance if I am away from home. Very easy to set up and use. Good design for storage.

Lots of Power for a Compact Unit

I bought this unit to replace a larger generator two years ago. It went through on hurricane like a champ. One half of my home was easily powered (which was more than enough, 1 AC 3 yard pumps, misc. 20 A breakers). The unit stores easily when not in use and is easy to move to hook up the transfer switch. I recently had a bad battery and the folks at Generac are replacing it. What a pleasant surprise and a guarantee that I will buy another Generac when the time comes.

Excellent Generator

Generac makes a quality product at an affordable price; plus I prefer to support American made products. I bought this model on sale for $800. In the past 15 months, I've only put 75 hours on this unit to date (although it ran for 72 hours recently with several cooling/fueling/oil check breaks - at 40 hours, I hadn't burned a drop of oil but I did the first oil change). Basic maintenance is simple enough for anybody to perform. The GP8000E feeds my main panel and powers everything I demand in my house, such as my pellet stove, electric range, well pump, lights, microwave, outlets and TV. I haven't tried powering my hot water heater but at 5,500 watts, I think it would do just fine if I shut some stuff off. It sits approximately 20 feet from my bedroom; the noise is barely noticeable when I am laying in bed. I do ensure that my carbon monoxide detectors are on whenever I have this unit powering my house. It's much more fuel efficient than I expected, averaging around 2 hours per gallon of fuel. With all of this being said, I do hear a bit of occasional surging once the temperature hits 25 degrees or below but it has no performance issues. In my opinion, portable gas powered generators are the way to go for powering a house during an emergency. Natural gas isn't an option in my area so we are limited to propane; getting a propane delivery after being without power for a week isn't always an option!

Very quiet and good on gas

I bought this generator to keep our fridges going during a 4 day power outage but I was able to do more. It also produced enough power to also run with the fridges a few lights, or my water pump or my sump pump. It's also light enough that one person can handle it quite easily. It starts very easily so practically anybody could start it. Great generator for the price.

I love the stability of the Generac's power supply and the convience of the electric start.

During the ice storm of 2013 our areas' power was out for 8 days. I borrowed my brothers Generac4500 and was impressed with it's ability to supply power for services of our rural property. When you are in the country and you loose power it includes you water supply and with horses it was essential that we had a constant and dependable power supply for this period. We have since purchased a Generac7500 with electric start and it is able to supply stable power for our whole house. We have used it recently when the power was out for a day and we never missed a beat.

This is a great product

This product gives us more for our money. After being without power for 38 hours and losing everything in the refrigerator and freezer for the second time this year we decided to buy a generator and generac was rated as one if the best. Bought one and had an electrician come and install it so from now on we have piece of mind when the power goes out again. Price and the ability to power so many things at once was a no brainer. Thanks for the great product.

Easy to assemble, great sturdy quality, and started on the first try

I have been wanting and researching a potable generator for years. With this, the generac name continued to rise to the top in quality and performance. Then came an immediate need, and after looking at my options I decided to go with generac. Even though the decision called for a quick decision I was confident that I was making the best decision. I found what I was looking for at Lowe's and actually upgraded from a 6500 to the 8000, the price was right and it came with an electric start. I brought it home and within 2 hrs had it making electricity! The ONLY down side of the whole situation was that they advertised that it with idle control and it turned out it didn't. Please correct this. I give this product two thumbs up!
