Exactly what I wanted and needed.

I bought this to replace a generator I've had since 1999. It was a 5500 kw and was very basic. It worked ok but was not powerful enough. I need one with more power and extra startup power. Also needed some safety features. The GP 6500 w/8175 startup power fit the bill perfectly. I had it 1 week and had 3 break-in hours on it and we had a storm go through that knocked the power out. I ran the GP6500 for 19 hours straight and it performed exactly as I had hoped. It always starts on the 1st or 2nd pull. Excellent purchase.

solid

heavy and durable. runs forever i would like to see someone try to start this with the recoil rope, though. if someone can actually do it they should probably be in the olympics or barnum and bailey's circus i tried it on fresh fuel and a hot engine ( right after shutting it down ), and there was NO CHANCE of this thing ever starting with the pull cord. keep the battery charged

Product assembles easily and generator started on first cord pull, but then...

I have rated the quality of this generator only "Fair" (a little below average) because of the two items that follow. The GP3600 generator is easy to assemble and it started on the first pull of the recoil cord. However, I ran into problems when I plugged in an electrical device: There was no power from any of the four 120 VAC, 20 amp, duplex receptacles (note: these receptacles have their own 20 amp circuit breakers). I had to call the store I bought it from and speak to someone who knows the generator and troubleshoot it with him. The problem was that the circuit breaker next to the single, circular 120 VAC, 30 amp receptacle needed to be moved from the "OFF" to the "ON" position. Once I flipped that switch there was power to all outlets. I did not know, and unless I missed it, there was nothing in the manual stating that the 30 Amp breaker controlled power to ALL outlets. There was nothing in the manual's startup procedure about this 30 amp breaker needing to be switched to "ON" so that power would flow to ALL outlets. I would recommend such a basic necessary item be addressed clearly in the manual. One other minor item: The plastic, zip-loc-type bags that the manual and warranty came in were very light grade plastic. I usually store the manuals for all of my power tools in the zip-loc-type bags they come in right in my shop near the tools themselves. So it would be nice if the bags were a little heavier grade plastic.

Excellent Generator

The power to my house has been pretty reliable up until this year. We have has three outages for extended periods of time so far this year. I have a well and a freezer full of beef, so I bought this generator to power my house during these outages. The power has not gone out since I bought it, but it does run all my appliances and the well pump without any problems when I tested it. It is worth having the insurance of stand-by power when it is needed.

Just what i expected!

I always do a major investigation before i purchase anything expensive.Sometimes it takes me weeks.I read everything including reviews. Finally after days of asking questions and reading many reviews i felt the Genarac GP6500 was right for me.I was right.Assembly was easy and took about 15 mins.Filled it with the oil that was provided and it started in two pulls. The unit was powerful enough to power up my whole house except the clothes dryer and electric oven.No more freezing in the winter or sitting in the dark.It is relativley quit and ran about 10 hrs on a tank of gas.I am very satisfied with my purchase and you can't beat the quality of Genarac.

Waiting for a big storm to put it through a real test

I wasn't sure what generator to buy, but the many positive reviews of the GP7500E helped sway my decision. Everything is checking out so far: it was easy to assemble and it started right up using the electric start. I'm looking into installing a manual transfer switch next. I'm a little concerned about keeping the generator maintained and ready to go if I won't need it for years to come.

This Unit is Fantastic!

I originally purchased the GP5500 unit, but traded it in for this GP7500E. The electric start is prefect. I set up the unit in no time and I had my wife come down to start it for the first time. She simply pushed the start button and it fired up. It actually runs quieter than other generators in the neighborhood. I would derfinitely recommend this unit to anyone, and I have. You can't beat the features for the price.

Quality machine

After a 3 day outage this summer, I upgraded from a 5000 watt generator to the 6500 watt Generac and installed a larger transfer switch so I could power more items during our frequent power outages. The machine is obviously well built. It has a small footprint and it's easy to move and started on the first pull. Based on other reviews I thought it might be a little noisy. But it actually seems quieter than my old one.

Great unit

I live in an area that is rural and the power goes out a few times a year. A month ago we had a storm and lost power for about 24 hours. I had a little generator but it was only good for a couple lights and t.v.. Problem is I have a refrigerator, a freezer, and a well pump I need power to as well. Next week I went looking for a bigger more reliable generator and found it with my generac 6500. After I got it home I was actually hoping to have another storm knock the power out so I could see how it would do. Wasnt long and it happened! It was only about a week later another storm came through and knocked the power out for about 7 hours. Long enough to try out the new generac. Rolled it out easy enough even though it's pretty heavy, pulled once and it was running like a champ. Plugged in the necessities and it handled everything. It was so nice to have in that situation. This winter I plan on having a transfer switch so I can run everything from lights to heat. I'd recommend this generator if your looking for one.
