These are made of flexible thick rubber and I have had mine inside my manual transmission Acura for YEARS!. They catch all spills from children, my coffee, lots of rain water and dirt / small pebbles stay in those grooves. These mats are very simple to clean. Just shake them and then hold a floor mat over an outside plant that needs water and hit the mat with the water hose so plant gets water and mat get clean. Sadly, my 30 year old Acura still works but needs repairs so I purchased a Honda Civic as a primary vehicle. I wanted the same mats but the accelerator pedal in the Honda Civic is covered by the carpet/rubber foot material so nothing fits under the pedal and the driver's side floor mat will not work in this vehicle although all the other mats fit. Cutting the driver side floor mat to fit around the accelerator pedal might work but such a deep cut would render that floor mat ugly because of the odd way it would have to be cut to avoid the pedal. I returned them. If I decide to to get rid of my Acura, the Acura floor mats will be spread out in the Civic trunk to help protect the trunk until I get another car they will fit in or I might repurpose them by placing them under my washing machine which is sitting on a cement floor in my garage to reduce vibration/sound. These floor mats last forever and the price is great.

Like others, I returned these mats because of the kerosene smell that wouldn't go away. After three weeks in hot Mississippi weather, the smell was just as strong as the first day I installed them. I did not use the rear mats and left them in my 2-car garage. The odor permeated the whole garage - not as bad as my truck but enough to be highly unpleasant. I really wanted to keep these mats because they were a good price, they fit perfectly without trimming, and they looked great. Just couldn't tolerate the intense odor.
