Tall self watering planter

This is a well made tall planter. So glad I decided to try it. Will definitely get many years of use out of it

Elevated , sleek, tall plantar

I love it! It is beyond what I was looking for. I transplanted my root bound fern in it. It is beautiful!

Perfect

These are exactly what I wanted for my front porch, perfect size and I love the built in trays inside. Not too heavy put I filled with water.

The planters are great since I read Tony's instructions on how to set it up. The problem is now that I have them set up for self watering, how do I remove the water for winter months?

Beautiful

I bought 2 of these planters in black and they are stunning. Well made and look very expensive. Would totally buy again or even buy to give as gifts for my gardening friends.

Wonderful planters!

These planters are great and look wonderful on either side of my front door. We did drill holes in the bottom so that the water wouldn't accumulate inside. Super easy to do.

No drain plug and horrible design

While these planters might be somewhat okay on a covered patio, they are a complete fail for an uncovered porch or patio. There is no exterior drain plug for the water reservoir. If your porch isn't covered and you don't live in the desert, you basically have a rain barrel. It will completely flood your plants. Even on a covered porch where you are adding water yourself, there is no way to tell how much water is in the reservoir or how much more is needed. (Most self-watering planters have a water-level indicator.) And, because there is no drainage plug, there is no way to drain and change the water. It is going to get smelly pretty quick with that pool of water sitting out in the heat in the bottom of the plastic planter. There is no way to remove the "self watering" partition because it is molded in place, so you can't even just use it as an ordinary tall planter or fountain. It didn't help that the plastic was scuffed and dented despite no visible damage to the box either. And, they are nowhere near as attractive as the photo in the ad. They are low-end materials and the "cedar" gray just looks like a sun-faded black. The square shape is nice; but these are not very attractive otherwise. They are sold as self-watering; however, the self-watering feature is very poorly designed to the point of being useless. I've noticed several reviewers complaining about the soil staying dry, and that is clearly because of the poor self-watering design. There is a reservoir at the bottom to hold water, which is apparently what somebody in charge things is "self-watering." But, having water 6" away from your soil is not self-watering. It is like having the watering can next to your plant and not pouring any of that water into the planter. The plant isn't going to bend down to take a drink. The problem with this planter's self-watering design is that there is no wicking material to pull the water up into the soil at the top. I thought maybe the wick was underneath the interior platform. However, there is no way to access the water reservoir from inside the planter to see if there is a wick, so I can only assume there isn't one. And, if there is a wick under there, you will never be able to replace it when it eventually deteriorates. The design on these planters is so horribly bad that I drove all the way into town to return them. (You cannot process as an online return.)

Herb garden planting

Planter looks nice and seems to work with self watering feature once I figured out how to do it. Gave 3 stars for lack of providing rope required for self-watering feature with the planter and lack of instructions on how to install rope for self-watering feature once purchased separately. I found limited instructions on Sam's Club website for item when scrolling through images of item. Disappointed that planter has self-watering feature but the rope required didn't come with item when purchased at Sam's Club. Also there were no instructions on how to install rope once purchased separately. I figured a way on my own that seems to be working.

Best planters ever!

This will be our second yet a with these planters. If you're struggling with how to set them up search the pictures in the reviews and look for the review from Tony. We followed his directions and the worked like a dream! The flowers grew so well and I only added water to the planter a couple times over the summer. We have talked several of our friends into the these planters and help them set them up. Tony's review is a game changer!
