Had the umbrella at the beach one day and I loved it! Until the wind started blowing slightly and the umbrella turned inside out and broke every rod.

Not a fan of the plastic screw in pole. Metal with point works much better. The mechanism that allows it to tilt is far from substantial. The parts will bend when the wind stresses the umbrella making it difficult to close without a hammer to beat the parts back to original shape. The original straight shaft works well. Actually the design we used to buy several years ago with the all metal poles was the best. Stay away from this design for the beach.

Another review said it wasn't tall enough, but not true, I'm over 6'0" and used a tall chair for baseball games and this thing is worth it's weight in gold. Just clamp the umbrella to the base pole at the height you need. Yes, I needed it at the tallest height but it was plenty tall without abstructing vision. We staked the base pole in the grass ground using the small pole to grind it down in. It was able to withstand some breeze. Haven't tested in higher winds. Didn't need to hold on to the pole but in heavier winds I would I think. Also I was able to use the side flaps to connect onto another chair umbrella and easily got 3 bigger people and one kid in front covered by shade in their chairs. This is awesome. I just bought another one to use at the lake house for the beach instead of a 10x10 canopy. I don't usually leave reviews but wanted to for this product. So many compliments people gave us and asked where to get it. So buy before it's gone.
