Superb Traction & Extremely Quiet

I had these tires installed on my 2015 Audi S5 (18” factory wheels) for the South Jersey “Late-Fall to Early-Spring” period where we do not normally see much over 6” on any given snowfall. Over the last several seasons these tire have been tremendous! They are quiet, handle superbly with Audi’s 4wheel drive, offer great traction and stopping — in short, I could not ask for a better winter tire in our type of fall-to-spring driving conditions.

A Work Car Will Buy Nothing Else

I drive 50k miles per year (business) in north central states in a 420 HP modified 2012 Mustang GT convert. I am in my second winter on these tires and am still totally overwhelmed over my ability to safely and under total control pass FWD vehicles that are slip-slidin' away because they don't have good, dedicated winter tires like the Pilot Alpin. I had similar Michelin dedicated winter tires on my '08 Mustang GT convert and in 128K miles never even lost control on snow or ice, much less got stuck even though I probably put on 5k miles driving in blizzards. If you have a performance car you drive in winter I cannot more highly endorse this tire. I do wish I could buy a narrower tire (for less hydroplaning on slush furrows between lanes) than the 255-40-19 that my car takes but the Mustang Brembo brake package doesn't allow much choice in narrower wheel/tire options. And, this tire looks great on the car - clean and glossy with no treatment. The Goodyear Eagles that were OEM looked muddy even after a wash. I have had such good luck with Michelin tires over the last 500k miles I just bought a set of Pilot Super Sports for when spring rolls around.

From -7c.. to damp +7c I just trust them. P.S. I treat them gently over +15c.. there they start to get soft..

I am on my second set and use it the whole year. I live in -5 - +17c climate. The first set was 225/40-18 FR and 255/35-18 rear, sold the wheels and tires after 28k km (plenty left) and went for 4x 255/35 - 19" to cover the RC-F brakes. In my case 35-45k km is about max and that is fine by me.

Great Winter Performance

Only had 2 on the back wheels of a 06 350z. I was able to make it through a MN winter. These tires are great, I plan go with 4 of them next year. Great traction in snow, low noise and nice ride on dry pavement. I would recommend these tires to anyone looking for a great winter tire.

Nothing better than the Pilot Alpin PA6 for high powered Sports Cars

Over the past five years, I’ve used two full sets of Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 tires on my 2020 AMG GT C for winter driving, and they’ve been absolutely spectacular. At temperatures below 40°F (4°C), these tires provide better grip than most summer tires do at 60°F (15°C) and above. On dry roads, even at high speeds (up to 168 MPH / 270 KPH), I have full confidence in their performance when taking fast corners, even in temperatures below 20°F (-7°C). Braking performance is also exceptional. On damp surfaces, they inspire more confidence than track-focused tires like the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 while on dry surface. In wet or lightly snow-covered conditions, I can drive cautiously but confidently, knowing they will keep me safe and get me where I need to go. It’s worth noting that my GT C is RWD with nearly 600 HP, so maintaining grip in extreme cold is absolutely crucial—and these tires deliver.

My first Winter tire & I love it!

A year ago, my brother borrowed my car and on the way back from his short trip snow started and he skid off the road (very minor repair to safety plastic under the engine). That moment was a wake-up call for me. I'm usually using the same car to ride my family around and definitely didn't want the same to happen to me or any of my family members. I'm from the country where summer gets 40 to 45deg Celsius but winter gets some snow and average temperature around 0 deg C. I've been planning to get another Michelin Winter tire, but this one was on stock, no need to wait. Immediately I felt the difference, even when there was no snow, as advertised when the temperature of the ground gets below +7 deg C. those tires were magnificent. Wheels do exactly what you want. After a snow fall I felt that my ABS is not working crazy, like it was before with All Season Tires, meaning the wheels not losing traction easily. Then me and my friend decided to do some experiment, he has the similar car (per weight) but All Season tires. We found abandoned road with icy snow on it and start testing for braking distance, all test were repeated at list 3 times. First test was to perform Emergency stop from 40km/h to 0km/h, Vehicle fitted with All Season tires skid for 30 meters (98.4 ft) longer repeatedly. Second test was to apply emergency stop from 60km/h to 0km/h, Vehicle fitted with All Season tires skid for 50 meters (164 ft) longer. This wasn't a test to convince my friend but to check if there is real world/life difference in All Season vs Winter tires, but my friend went directly to the shop to buy a set of winter tires. Definitely recommend the winter tires from Michelin.

Very Reliable

I have always purchased Michelin tires for my 328i BMW. They last and with rotation I have only gone through two sets over the 17 years I have had my low mileage (135K) car. No issues whatsoever. Safe, reliable, smooth ...the best. I would never buy another brand.

Great winter tire for Audi S4

I have a 2013 Audi S4 with summer tires/wheels and needed a good overall winter tire for Michigan winters. I did some extensive research reading reviews and narrowed down to the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4's. I'm glad I went with these tires. They provide excellent traction, quiet and I feel very secure on cold snow covered roads. I would highly recommend these tires.

Good performer low life

Great tires, got them with my car and put maybe 35,000kms on them as I do not drive often. Sadly these tires are already nearing the wearbar and are getting quite dangerous at around 5/32-6/32.

Won't buy this one again

I have had three sets of these tires on my 2016 Ford Focus RS. It was the OEM winter tire for the car, and I was impressed enough to buy subsequent sets. The first two sets were incredible - great handling characteristics for a winter tire, quiet and smooth drive, great treadwear life, and unstoppable in even deep snow. However, this past winter I put a replacement set on, and the handling characteristics have gone significantly downhill. There is so much sidewall flex, and such significant movement in the tread that I feel like I'm driving on jello. I'm guessing that this is a new rubber compound, and while it does perform well in snow and on ice, I am disappointed that the change in compound has so negatively impacted the driving characteristics. I know that no winter tire will ever give as crisp and edgy handling as a summer tire, but I am directly comparing this tire to itself.
