Easy to Assemble

My husband, myself, and our teen put this together is under two hours. First, we read through the instructions so we got the overall idea, then once we got the pattern going, it was easy. Very sturdy and inviting. The bolts and nuts are high quality stainless steel.

Love the climbing dome; instructions are difficult

We bought this for our grandchild's yard and think it will be wonderful and very sturdy. We bought it cheaper than Amazon as a WalMart special for Xmas 2012 with free pickup at the store. FYI, the box is heavy so you would need help to get it into and out of your car, but the box dimensions are 40 inches long x 24 inches wide x 7 inches deep, so the box should fit in any backseat. When completed, one person can stand inside and move the dome several yards for mowing, etc. The first problem with the instruction book is that our pale metallic brown and dark green rods (Earthtones) were diagrammed as dark and light respectively, which was confusing. Second, the initial step is to make 5 separate units, but the book said to make one Unit and then "repeat 5 times". The book also labeled one crucial joint with the wrong code. Third, about tools. The instructions say that assembly requires a hex (Allen) wrench and a socket wrench with a 1/2" socket. That is wrong. In the early stages of the assembly, a standard socket is not deep enough to tighten the first nut that you put on the long bolts. That first nut does not require a socket wrench and can be tightened using a regular wrench. So for the first nut you need either a deep socket or a standard wrench. However, when you put the handles on the ends of the bolts at the last step of the assembly, you do need a socket wrench. For that, a regular socket is sufficient, but of course a deep socket can handle it, too. So what you need for assembly are the following: (1) a hex (Allen) wrench (2) either (A) a deep 1/2" socket wrench or (B) both of the following (i) a regular 1/2" socket wrench and (ii) any one of the following: (a) a 1/2" box wrench (b) a 1/2" open-end wrench (c) an adjustable (Crescent) wrench Only one person was needed initially to open the box, take inventory (which included one extra knob and one extra set of bolt, washers, and nut), lay out the 5 initial units and assemble them, about a half hour. Thereafter a second person was vital to hold the units up in place for assembly around the dome. We had 3 adults, with the third person giving out the needed parts and reminding the assembler of the order to place the rods on the bolts. We had a large level area for assembly, and took almost 3 hours from starting to open the carton to gathering the waste at the end. We followed the advice of another reviewer not to tighten any joints by tool until the assembly was on the last steps, since inevitably some joints have to be corrected, and a number of the joints have to be unscrewed for more rods to be added as the assembly progresses. The metal rods will not be a problem in summer heat, the reviewers said, but the rods felt cold at freezing temperatures. We are very pleased (5 stars) with the product overall and anticipate a lot of interest. The family already has a parachute that will be fun to put over it. But the assembly problems took off one star in expectations. Since you are now forewarned, I urge you to get this product!

Plenty of Room

Toddlers love this airplane and it's safer than a stand alone teeter-totter because small kids (with guidance) can hold on to all the bars it has. Even now my 12-yr old granddaughter will sit on it and just rock while she plays with the dogs or talking to friends. Older kids are too rough for it. It's not commercial grade and the teen boys at one of my parties pulled the steering wheel off. It's for young ones. A lot of fun for them.

Best Climber On The Market

Safe and sturdy with awesome rock climbing handles for extra safety! The kids loved it as well as the adults that tried it. It was bought for ages 3 and 5 but we had climbers as young as one and even in their twenties! Climbers can only climb to where their ability takes them and it is 5 ft. at it's highest point meaning no one is out of reach. It has a wide base (10 ft.) which means no anchoring and it is easy for one person to move around the yard for mowing. As with any kids project, the instructions a less then helpful but if you read through them carefully and use the pictures, it shouldn't be too difficult. Assembly time was around 2 hrs. for 2 people (faster if you have more involved). I wouldn't suggest putting it together alone because you really do need a second set of hands to hold pieces and prop sides.

This is the one you want!

We bought this climbing dome several years ago. We have 16 grandchildren, and they are tough on stuff. We put this out on the riverbank by our fishing pond. The girls use it to play house, and boys build a fort. It can be covered with blankets for a reading station. My son-in-law and his boys weaved sticks and reeds into the sections and made a hut. There's room for several children to play at once. After 4 years out in blizzards and 110+ heat...it looks exactly like it did when we put it up. And putting it up was easy.

Super Purchase

Was a little rough to put together but the steel is powder coated to keep from getting too warm. It is very sturdy and the kiddos can climb, swing, do flips etc. You can move it around on the grass so no wear spots and easy mowing. Put a sprinkler under on a warm day and watch the fun. Sturdy enough for me to be able to play as well. Super purchase!!

Go get it... NOW!

Must have two people to assemble. Take your time and follow the instructions closely. Have twin boys... and they love it. It has created a whole new world for them to play on and dream under. Throw a big blanket over it and it becomes a fort or igloo. Also, they are getting stronger and more coordinated through their play. It's great!

Love this!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this 3 years ago for Mother's Day!! It is amazing and has held up beautifully. We don't take it down for the winter, and you would never know!! It super easy to pull it around so you can mow under it...that was super important for my husband. My kids love it and are always climbing on it. I've even had my sisters who have graduated from high school climbing on it with the kids!

Great Quality & we love love love it!

We purchased this 4 months ago and love it! It's very sturdy, even when it's loaded with kids. It was such a hit, that we loaded it into the truck and took it to a family function for all the nieces and nephews to enjoy. Even the teenagers played on it. The grandkids absolutely love it.

Great features!

Purchased a month ago, had to wait for delivery and it came sooner then expected. My husband and grandchildren put it together (imagine them sitting in the large boxes, playing with the steering wheel, control panel and propeller while all the construction went on). It was a 4 hour fun project to do with the grandchildren. Directions are easy to read and understand and the grandchildren love playing on it. SO very GLAD we purchased it!!!!!
