It is not frost free, but time has shown that it does not frost up often. I might have bought a more expensive one with frost free had I known it, but now that I have it, I am happy with it. A lot less money for a little inconvenience.

The evaporator cooling coils are attached to the underside of each shelf for cooling efficiency which prevents them from being adjusted. This is a standard design for manual defrost upright freezers.
