Not happy with purchase
I bought this freezer in August, and it is now September 6, 2025. Ice has formed on the top and is now forming on the bottom and on the shelves. I am very disappointed in it. I figured it would eventually have some ice, but not in such a short time. The seal seems to be good. We set it at the setting in the directions.
Hello JOYCE, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Frigidaire 6.5 Cu. ft. Upright Freezer Platinum Silver. We pride ourselves on our high-quality standards and regret that our product did not live up to your expectations.
It sounds like your door may need adjustment. Here is a tutorial how to diagnose and resolve your issue:
How to Reduce & Resolve Frost Buildup in Upright Freezers, Refrigerator and Freezer Compartments of Refrigerators.
Frost occurs when moisture in ambient air touches the cold evaporator coils, metal shelves and interior sides of a freezer or refrigerator.
Steps you can take to reduce frost build up:
Move your hand around the outside of the freezer/refrigerator door. If you feel cold air, then the door is not sealing adequately.
You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge to reposition/adjust the freezer door to create a tight seal.
Adjust the front levelling feet of your unit such that the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear. Gravity will assist the door to close with a proper seal.
TIP: Close the door on a dollar bill (or similar). The dollar bill should not easily pull out - there should be some resistance. Perform the “Dollar Bill Test” on the top, sides, bottom of your freezer door, and adjust accordingly.
Do not over fill your freezer to prevent food items from shifting and preventing the freezer door from closing properly.
Place only cool or cold food items in your refrigerator or freezer. Hot foods introduce humidity into the food storage compartment, which contributes to frost build up. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator or freezer.
Wrap foods tightly with plastic wrap. Butcher paper is not an adequate wrapping material. Glass container lids typically do not provide a proper seal.
Dry the exterior of food before storing. By the time you reach home after purchasing frozen foods, the food items may have defrosted a bit and moisture may have already developed on packaging.
Reduce the amount of time the door remains open. Labelling and organizing your foods so you can easily identify them will help shorten the number and duration of freezer trips.
Set the freezer temperature so the freezers interior compartment stays around 0F (-18C), as higher and lower temperature settings contribute to frost build up.
Door Seal Care:
Keep the door seal clean. You can clean your door seal with a solution of one tsp of baking soda to a quart of lukewarm water. Pour the solution onto a clean sponge, and wipe it over the seal. Sponge off the solution with clear water and dry the seal with a clean cloth before closing the freezer door.
Keep the door seal flexible by lubricating it with some petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline). Wipe it on and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth.

Love this little upright freezer!
I love this little upright freezer! It will go into a condo, where I don't have room for a full sized upright freezer. The move will occur next summer. In the meantime I will use it when I defrost my existing full-sized freezer. Delivery was very prompt and it was easy to move to my garage and to unpack and get running. It will work in a garage in temperatures down to zero degrees. I love the black color!

I thought I loved it. it started right up and was keeping things frozen. then I started noticing that where the dial is to raise or lower the temp it started getting frosty up there and just gradually got worse. I made sure it was level and was away from the wall as well however it continued to worsen. I noticed others have the same problem. so I'm returning the item.

Great small upright freezer
Very nice compact upright freezer. It’s not huge but it’s the perfect size for us. We replaced a chest freezer and this upright one is so much easier to get into and find things easily. We keep it in our attached garage and have had no issues.Highly recommend.

Iced up coming out the top of the door, door seal is not sealing properly— contacted warranty and was told the seal is a wear and tear item and not under warranty- have had this freezer 1 month!! Warranty thru Curtis is useless, would not recommend.

It just arrived and fits perfectly in my condo kitchen. I love the stainless steel which goes with my appliances. It did come with a decent size dent on the front door which is unfortunate. I don’t have any updates on how operates. My plan is to use it for bulk items and I would only go in it a couple times a week.

Go Stock Up!
This is the MVP of bulk buying. The storage and shelving are perfectly designed—no more digging through chest freezer mountains! It's whisper-quiet and the temperature is rock-solid. If you buy in bulk or just need serious overflow capacity, it's a massive win!

Love everything but a small problem
I absolutely love everything about it except the very top shelf keeps frosting over to the point I have to take my finger and scrap it off so it doesn’t affect the items on the next shelf. At times it’s 2-4 inches thick. We’ve checked the seal and it’s fine and my temperature is only on a little over %231. So I just wanted to give you a heads up. But appearance, fit perfect in a small apartment, holds quite a bit of food and I love how you can actually hear the sound of it, sucking the door shut when you shut it.

I just received the item today I don't know how useful it's going to be it did come however with a huge dent on the left side edge of it when you're expecting to have something brand new to look over and see how it looks where you put it and have that you know brand new feeling of having purchased something and you don't because it has a dent it's very deflating and of course to send it back it has to be on my dime
