I like it for amall areas

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used it for larger and small areas. I really like how it fills the small areas. Larger areas I think I'd prefer regular seed, but still works quickly. I just put it down the day before vacation, came back 6 days later and it started filling in well.

Scotts EZ Seed is not a good product.

Terrible product. Followed directions to a tee. Temps during the day 70-75. Evening 60-65 Watered according to directions. What I got where a couple of sprouts of grass and a lot of what looks like peat moss. I stopped Scotts lawn Service so they would not put down any weed/feed a month+prior to my seeding. I would not by this product ever again. Very disappointed in A SCOTTS PRODUCT.

We are sorry that you have experienced problems while using Scotts EZ Seed Sun & Shade.Temperature plays a critical role in seedling germination. Soil temperatures for northern (cool season) type turfgrass seed (Kentucky bluegrass, ryegrass, and fescue) must be at least 55 degrees F for seed to germinate. For best results, daytime temperatures must typically be in the 60-80 degree F. range and not going below 50 degrees F at night. Seeds will not germinate if the temperatures are cold at night, or are fluctuating from high day temperature to very low night time temperatures. The best time to seed cool season grasses is early to mid-fall. One major "enemy" of a newly seeded lawn is herbicide. Make sure that no weed control or weed prevention product has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a spot that I've been working on trying to repair for a while and finally tried this seems how it's a small area. I've been watering as per the instructions and it's been a few weeks but the grass is finally coming in very green and thick.

Expensive and kind of works

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cannot use over too much area as it is really pricey, therefore best for just spot repair. Must keep the product wet, must water it more than once per day during sunny weather..make sure the product stays dark brown - it gets light brown when dry. Seeds are slow to germinate and grass does not come out as full as I would like.

Fast and Easy to Use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tried EZ Seed on a bare spot that recently had a tree removed. It was very easy and convenient to apply. The first seeds sprouted in about 5 days. And now after 10 days, most have come up. This is a fast and easy repair for small bare spots.

Been using this on and off for the last two years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great for small (patch) areas. Needs to be watered every day for best results. I will be purchasing another ones as I'm finally out. I'm surprised it still worked this year since I've had it for a couple years.

Everything you need in one container!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Took me all of 5 minutes to prep the ground with a steel rake and apply the EZseed product. Added water and am now awaiting the lush green grass! The only thing I would recommend is adding some straw to the top to hold moisture into the ground.

Second purchase was a disappointment.

After great bare batch results with my purchase I bought more… the results was a complete disappointment. Not one blade of new grass after more than a month, didn’t do anything different in preparation and the weather was suitable for growth. Purchased through Amazon so I don’t know how long it’s been sitting on the shelf if that’s an issue… after looking at the reviews it looks like I’m not the only one.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Ezseed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. Different grasses germinate at different times. Germination times on label are based upon the grass type in the bag that will germinate the quickest. For Cool Season Grasses (Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and Fescue) soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate. This generally requires daytime temperatures consistently in the 65+ degrees (18.3 Celsius) range for cool season grasses. In the spring it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil, especially in the northern states. Cool night-time temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed. We recommend watering 1-2 times per day to keep the seeds moist, until seed germinates. Then, we recommend watering about 1-1 1/2" per week as needed. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. Weed control used prior to seeding such as a Crabgrass Preventer will prevent seed from germinating. Weed control product used on new seedlings - such as Turf Builder Weed & Feed or Ortho Weed-B-Gon (Killex in Canada) will kill seedlings when they first germinate We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

Keep it moist!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product packaging is very well designed. The dispenser head is especially good at an even flow of material. I first used the product on an established lawn bare spot. It took a week to see any growth but part of the problem was i was unavailable to keep it moist throughout the day. Then the tree stump remover guy came and took out two stumps. I had ideal top soil conditions and very well timed rain storms that were soft rains, not downpours. This was the cats meow! Strong growth is up and continuing, there is no over seeding or bare spots. So, with the right amount of water and care, this product is great.

Works well in shade

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Even though it wasn't the perfect time of year to plant this Sun and Shade seed, we put some under a large plant that had blank spots underneath that we wanted to fill in with grass. It starting growing right away.
