We apologize that you did not have satisfactory results while using our EZ Seed product. It's certainly frustrating to prepare an area to reseed only to have disappointing results. There are several reasons why grass seed may not germinate and while it is difficult to pinpoint what may have gone wrong, we do have some advice that has been useful to some of our consumers in the past. What temperature was it when you applied the product? This seed germinates best when soil temperatures are at least 55 degrees. How often was the product watered? Too much or too little watering can both result in unsatisfactory germination rates. Were any weed controls or pesticides used around the time of seeding? Most herbicides can also interfere with germination. We do offer a product guarantee that extends to all of our products, including our seed. At your earliest convenience, please contact us so that we can discuss our guarantee and the product in further detail. We apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced when using the product. This particular product usually has a lot of success stories from users, but it is helpful when we get reviews like yours to help us produce quality product. For Cool Season grasses like Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and different types of Fescues soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate and can take between 4 -21 days to see germination. Warm season grasses like Bermudagrass, Centipede and Zoysia, which germinates in early summer, requires soil temperatures between 75 - 90 degrees (24 - 32 Celsius) and can take between 5-28 days to see visible germination. Watering also plays a defining factor in germination. We recommend watering 1-2 times a day until germination is visible and then watering 1- 1 ½” per week as needed. Both excessive watering and not enough watering can slow down or even stop germination of the product. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at http://tinyurl.com/mds8zo5 and one of our representatives would be glad to assist you. We hope this issue has not caused you to lose faith in our product, as we use reviews like yours to maintain and improve the quality product that you and other consumers have come to know and love.

We are sorry to hear that your Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair Sun and Shade did not germinate as expected. This seed mix is a combination of bluegrass, ryegrass, and fescue. While the ryegrass and fescue should germinate in 2 weeks, it could take 28 days for the bluegrass to come up. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please contact us to see what can be done. We are sorry for the disappointment you have experienced with the results of your recent seeding effort. We'd like to offer a few tips that may be helpful to you in future seeding endeavors. As with any seed product, ScottsEZ Seed Sun & Shade requires both continuous moisture and warm soil temperatures. When one of these conditions is missing, poor germination is the result. Be sure to spread the EZ Seed Sun & Shade evenly over the prepared area. EZ Seed should be sparsely applied to the depth of about 1/16" to 1/8" thick. If the product has been applied too thickly, germination will be poor. Also, make sure that no weed control or weed prevention product has been used where you are seeding, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination of the seed. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass. We hope these extra tips are helpful. Temperature plays a critical role in seedling germination. Soil temperatures for this particular product must be at least 55° F for the seed to germinate. For best results, daytime temperatures must typically be in the 60-80°F. range and not going below 50°F at night. Seeds will not germinate if the temperatures are cold at night, or are fluctuating from high day temperature to very low night time temperatures. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please contact us to see what can be done.
