Great generator - smooth, good starting

These generators are smooth running, fast-starting, power is very stable, gas mileage is good. The only problem I experienced is the second one I bought had a faulty automatic choke out of the box. One would think QA would catch something so basic. Very irritating to lug a 250lb malfunctioning generator back to the store then lug a replacement back home. But - the replacement works fine and we are power - enabled. Run whole house on these.

Better than Expected!!

After the Houston winter power outage my wife and I didn't want to go through that again. Setup was straightforward, and the directions are easy to read. Comes with everything you need for a first startup (except fuel), oil, propane regulator hose. Running it's noticeably quieter than my 20 gal. air compressor motor. It also has a nice black and blue finish on it, which I think really makes it look cool.

A Generator That Meets All of Our Needs

After a lot of research we decided the Westing House 7500DF met all of our current and future needs. I never would have considered a dual fuel generator without input from my wife, but I'm glad I listened. The extra option of using propane is a great added bonus. Our biggest concern was being able to start the generator as we get older. With the auto start button and wireless fob the generator starts itself with just the push of a button. The initial setup was so easy, I was wondering if I had missed something. I set it up with a canister of propane and tried the auto-start to see how the well generator would work. The generator cycled through 3 short starts and ran perfectly once the propane was primed. Living on the East Coast of Florida, hurricane season will less of a worry with this generator.

easy to set up

I have no comments on use during an emergency, because I just received the generator. I was asked to leave a review and be compensated by a cover or power strip. No covers were available. My review basically covers unpacking and start-up. The unit was very easy to set up and the instructions were clear. I feel that's significant given the potential for damage resulting from incorrect set-up. After putting on the wheels, adding oil, connecting the battery and reading the start-up instructions, the generator started up with no drama. I would have liked more information about the oil. Instead of causing me to look for the sump capacity, they could have just said: "Dump the whole container into the engine." The funnel could have been a little more robust as well, but it ends up being a one-tine use thing. The generator is easy to move about the garage, appears to be well made, and starts easily.

Powerful

This is a good size for a home backup. Power outages are only going to get worse with population growth and over reliance on “Renewables” which is inherently unreliable. My family needs something that will see us through both in summer and winter. Fuel fuel is very important to make storage easier.

Seems very stout.

I purchased this generator because we live in a rural area with frequent power outages. With the recent bout of wild fires in So Cal we lost power for 10 days. We first tried out a smaller unit but soon got tired of plugging and unplugging different items so as to not overload the generator. With that test of the setup had I decided to exchange it for a larger unit. I've done all the start up procedures and everything works well it appears. I haven't used it under a power outage yet thus the 4 stars. The electric w/remote start is nice. The rope start on the other unit was a bit annoying for the wife.

Exactly what I needed

Bought this just a few days ago to replace a 30 year old generator that I got during Hurricane Hugo. Electric start and dual-fuel (gas or propane) makes it much easier to start and use, and the wheels and built-in handle make it SO much easier to move around.

Great features

I bought this for the dual fuel feature so I can run it on propane and not have to store gas for extended periods. One really cool feature is that you don't have to shut the generator off if you do need to switch from propane to gas, just turn the switch. Super easy. My wife really likes the fob for starting and stopping it from the comfort of the house in bad weather.

Powerful, easy to start

We recently installed a generator transfer switch. This generator works great for my application. Electric start makes starting a breeze (remote start is a neat feature but not sure how often we will use it in real world) The dual fuel feature was the main selling point. No more bad gas, gummed up carburetor preventing me from using the generator when I need it. I also love the idea of the built in trickle charger. Hopefully won't have to worry about a dead battery during a storm.

No issues on initial start up

During the recommended break in period (5 hours) generator started and ran without any issues. I varied the load from just lights to multiple power tools. Generator handled all loads with out a hitch. As this was the break in I keep the load under 3600 watts. So far I've only run using propane. All outlets were tested without issues. The remote start/stop feature worked well although i didn't test the range. From my limited use it seems to be a quality generator. Build quality was good however the top cover piece was misaligned - more a cosmetic issue. The noise level was not bad. Definitely better than my previous generator. The duel fuel feature was one of primary reasons for purchasing. There were a few negatives such as cheap plastic wheels. Also the included oil fill funnel was awful, too easy to overflow with spillages. The generator arrived with damaged packaging. Bottom corners of box showed oil stains. Not sure where the stain came from as no oil was found on the generator. In spite of packing issues the generator was not damaged.
