I bought this because I couldn't find reasonably-priced retrofit fluorescent for my shop lights. It seems I "didn't get the memo" that, in Colorado, all fluorescent tubes are now banned. This Westinghouse system consists of 2 strips of bright-white LEDs designed to emulate a tubular bulb. Local purchase cost from Sam's was <$18 each. To retrofit and re-use the existing fluorescent fixture was going to cost in excess of $40, based on what I could find. The conversion process for existing fixtures is complicated -- and depends on the type of ballast, etc. I'm concerned that these forced retrofits have really one beneficiary: the country where all these LEDs are manufactured. Any guess which country? Ridiculous virtue-signaling (or a more onerous conspiracy) by regulators to limit consumer choice. Thankfully Sam's has this unit that will probably work for you at a reasonable cost. But please note that these units are designed for 120v grounded plug installation, NOT direct wiring to your ceiling. So you may have to make changes accordingly to power these.

I added this to my existing fluorescent fixtures in my workshop. It provides the additional light in a very costly manner. I expect it to last many years without constantly changing fluorescent tubes. At this price is less expensive than new bulbs and uses less power.

This light would work well if you are hanging it with chain. Parts for that are included. It says that it can be mounted directly to ceiling, but that is problematic. You have to put screws into the ceiling at exact location, then slip the fixture holes onto it and slide it over. There is no way to actually tighten the screws. I considered taking it apart to see if there was a better way, but it is riveted together. I made it work by putting shims under the middle part to tighten it up. It gives a lot of light, and would be fine if you are hanging it. It can only be powered with the cord, you cannot direct wire it.

These longevity of these lights is horrible. I have purchased at least ten of them, some from the first version and about 6 from the newer version. of the 5 that are currently installed in my garage, only two of them are working. These were not hardwired and were just plugged in. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
