Product has features I was looking for

Shopped around for other makes and always came back to the Generac reviews. Price is good. The company I bought it from Assembled it for me at no extra cost.I put in the oil and gas and started on the first pull. Tried all Receptacles on the generator. All worked. Bought it as a stand by in case we lose power.Good product

Great job, but heavy and loud

I have used one of these for a back up generator for my house for 5 years and it does a great job, but I have recently purchased and installed a stand by unit 22kw which is awesome., There are a few things that you need to know before purchasing this unit, it is heavy and I have to use a tractor to haul it from my storage shed to the meter to hook it up, also if it is raining I have to wait until the rain slows down because the connections are open to the elements. the only other thing that pushed me to get a stand by is this unit is really loud. I think if you know these things up front and are ok with them then this unit does a really great job providing constant power when in use.

Excellent unit but very loud and easy to operate.

The unit was delivered and it took me a few weeks before I set it up. Too bad it doesn't ship with wheel kit already installed, it is a 2 man job for set up. After getting the transfer switch installed, tested the unit on a full load and works great. Easy to crank but had to purchase a charger for the battery after 3 months. It is loud even when placed in idle mode and the metal cover rattles near the muffler. I love it though.

Looks solid

This is for the GP7500E. I can't do an operation review because I just finished setting the unit up and have not used it yet. It was purchased as a backup electrical source for our home. Setup was easier than reviews led me to believe, specifically putting oil in it. You do need a funnel to add oil, and I did use a funnel and hose that I already have, but a funnel with a long neck would work fine. The first unit I brought home was replaced by Tractor Supply after purchase because the spark plug boot was broken. TS was going to replace the unit with another unit in stock but the other unit also had a broken boot. They replaced it with a unit from a different store. Might be a coincidence. I opened the box and checked the boot before I brought this one home. I'm sixty years young but didn't have a problem putting it together, although it is heavy. The only piece missing was one of the little bolts that hold the battery terminals on. The unit looks good, though. I have intentions to fire that puppy up and put a load on it to make sure it puts power out. I don't know if I'll be allowed to do a second review after using it, but that's the plan.

Well balanced and easy to operate.

I was concerned that the GP15000E would be hard to move due to it's weight. However, what I found was that it is balanced and is easily moved to wherever I need it. I'm not mechanically savvy by any means but this generator is so easy to operate that even I was able to understand and run it right away. I'm glad I purchased from Generac

excellent quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Living in Florida we often get hit by pretty bad hurricanes during the summer months .Having a young child in the house can be a bit tricky and stressful at times especially when there is no cold air or nothing cold to eat or drink .I love the fact that this generator is so easy to operate and move around that i can work it myself without the help of hubby .I love this beings he works and isn't always around so being able to power , hook up ,and move the generator by myself is a must . There is a fuel gauge on the top part of it so knowing when your fuel level is getting low is pretty easy .The hour meter on it i like also so i can determine how long i have ran it for .I like the overall design and features it offers . There is a fold down handle which makes it easy to move and nice for storage . It was designed to shut itself down if the oil level becomes too low to operate safe guarding the equipment from damage .Very easy to assemble right out of the box . I also like that when its running the sound coming from it isn't to loud like other brands i have used in the past . Overall a nice generator for the money

Works great

Bought as an upgrade to a small generator during hurricane Irene (used with extension cords to keep fridge/lights running. We had an electrician hard wire the 7500E to the house in time for the October snowpacalypse (15.5" of snow, power out for 6 days). We have over 180 hours on the generator in 2 months, but for the last storm (6 days out), we were quite comfortable, and were able to run the dishwasher, septic pump, stove, etc. The power being out became a minor inconvenience. Aside from the quick *pre-dark* oil changes, no real maintenance beyond filling the tank twice daily. Very happy with the generator, and have already recommended the same unit to friends.

This generator is NOT 120/240 volt

I am satisfied with this generator however if I had researched I would have bought a different unit. (The GP3300 is 120/240 volt and can be installed via a transfer panel). Only because after I bought it did I found out it is 120 volt only. My plan was to plug it into the dryer outlet and power up the circuit breakers in the main panel I only needed. BUT I learned this method is very DANGEROUS and you cannot connect it via a transfer panel. You can send your generated electricity to your neighbors home and potentially a lineman working on the power lines. Be aware of the liability. I hired an electrician to install panel on the outside of the house and manufacture a cable to connect it to the generator, he said this is legal and the right way. I tried it out and voila! I am able to power the exact breakers I wanted in my plan. I have lights where I wanted them and a 6000 BTU air conditioner. As far as I know this will not and cannot power anything 220 volt. The noise level is less than I thought it would be, but it's not quiet, it does not have that ear piercing high pitch rattling. The noise does not come from the exhaust as I thought, you don't hear the exhaust you hear the generator motor I guess. It's not too heavy, and with the wheels it moves anywhere. It tucks nicely in the garage under a 24" deep table. To sum it up: I like and will keep it because it does exactly what I wanted in the beginning. It's not too heavy and it's small enough to conceal in the garage when stored not like the large units.

Hurricane Dorian

Purchased this unit just prior to hurricane hitting Nova Scotia. We lost power for three and a half days. This unit kept all the essentials running and kept us safe and dry. Didn't run it over night, but pretty much all of the waking hours and only had to refill the fuel tank once. No super heavy loads but it handled the refrigerator with no problems. Used it for coffee, microwave, induction cooktop, TV and internet. Delighted with the unit.
