Glad I got this unit

After researching for almost a year, and talking to countless other generator owners, I decided on the Generac line of generators. After extensive comparisons of the Generac portable generators, I decided on the GP7500E since it had the electric start. From the time I ordered until receipt took about five days, and it arrived in great shape, no shipping damage or missing parts. Assembly was a breeze, and in approximateyl 30 minutes, I had the unit assembled and started up. I ran the unit for about an hour, load tested the 30 amp circuit, then packed the unit away in the garage to await the next power outage. One thing to remember about this unit....it's heavy, right at 200lbs, but once it is assembled, the design of the handle makes moving this generator around a breeze.

gas tank leaking

I have had this 2 years, I have run it 60 hours. The gas tank leaks where it bolts to the frame. It's a bad design or poor manufacturing, Not made in USA for sure. Too many models and design changes to keep track of in my opinion. Just trying to get the tank replaced has taken 6 calls, 3 emails, and still no results.

It does what it's supposed to

After 35 years at the same address and typically dealing with 1 or 2 mostly short outages per year, we experienced an 8 hour outage and a 5 hour outage within 2 months. My wife said we need a generator! We looked at whole house backup but that seemed like overkill and very expensive. After lots of online research we settled on a Generac in the 6500-8000 watt range. Because we have a well, we needed 230v output. The price difference between 6500 and 8000 was so small, we opted for the GP8000e. The installer put a lockout on our electrical panel so we can switch between generator power or electric service but the generator cannot backfeed the incoming electric. Yesterday we experienced a 5 hour outage. After 30 minutes, I rolled the generator out of the garage and onto my patio. It fired up with electric start even though I had not charged the battery since the initial startup 4 months ago. I hooked up the 30amp cable to the receptacle on the house, switched the lockout on the service entrance to generator power and we had power. In addition to the well pump, furnace fan, and fridge, we ran the microwave, an electric cooktop (not at the same time), and all the lights we wanted. My only complaint, though not unexpected, was the volume. It is loud! My phone sound meter app registered 90db at about 10' away. It was about 8' from our family room and even with the windows closed, it was too loud to watch TV comfortably so we retreated to the basement. It's also quite heavy but I had no real trouble wheeling it around the house from the garage to the patio. Overall, I'm very pleased with it and my wife was happy that we had water and a cold refrigerator during our 5 hour outage.

Oil Leak in 30 Hours

Purchased the unit the morning Sandy was to hit my area. The unit was very easy to set-up and operate. The only issue is that the unit has started to leak after only 30 hours of use. After speaking with a Generac rep from the 1-800 service number, I was told to operate the unit, check the oil every 4 hours and bring it in for service once power was restored. Not the reliability I was looking for, but overall it is still working. I hope the repair and warranty process runs smoother.

Worked perfectly when we had a power outage on Christmas Day.

We bought this generator because of 3 day power outage we suffered through this past summer. We lost power on Christmas Day and the generator did all we expected and more. It ran 2 refrigerators, stand up freezer, and furnace. We had heat, tv, lights, garage door opener ,coffee maker and everything else we needed. Ran for over 12 hours on a tank of gas. I would recommend this product to anyone, just make sure you have the correct size for you needs.

GP7500E So Far So Good

Nice unit easy to set up fired right up gave it a quick check up and so far so good. I Purchased this unit as a precaution mainly to have the ability to keep the essentials functional during prolonged outages (our area is prone). At this point I am waiting for my electrician to obtain the necessary parts to complete a proper safe and legal hook up. I hope to say farewell to frozen pipes, stubbed toes, and spoiled food.

It has what the average household needs.

Only time will tell if it holds up well over the long haul, or if the investment was a poor decision. Realistically I don't believe it is meant for heavy duty service, but if taken good care of, and with only emergency duty, I will expect a long service life (many years) of reliable service.

Envious Neighbors

I got tired of having to reley on my electric company to supply power if the wind blew the wrong way. So I researched and decided to buy this unit. Now all the neighborhood comes running with extension cords to plug in for power. And I have power to spare while supplying our entire house, well pump, water heater, wifes hair dryer, stove, washer and dryer and all the essential items also. Unit is easy to move around for wife who is 5'2" tall 120 lbs. Set up is easy,as for installing the wheels just shimmy unit back on supplied pallet, install axle brackets slide in axle tilt unit back, slip on wheels then rock back on wheels install front resting stand and wheels are on. Its that simple.
