Product arrived on date as promised. Set up was pretty simple. Filling with oil was a little tricky, but not impossible. After filling with oil and gas pressed the electric start switch and it cranked right up. I'm having an electrician install the transfer switch in two days. He has the same generator and recommended the Generac brand, so that's what I went with. Seems like a well made product.

Bought this generator for use as a power backup when power is lost for myself , other family members or friends . Received unit in a VERY timely matter , after installing wheel kit ( a must have ) , adding oil and gas the generator started right up , runs quite and smooth . Love the electric start and the twist Lock power cord that came with this unit , as of yet have not had to use it but pretty sure it will perform as needed , I would recommend this Generac GP6500E generator to anyone and it's a good value .

I bought it at Sam's Club (06 JUN 22) and assembled it per the instructions. I fired it up once and it ran for a few minutes. When I shut it down and attempted to restart it, it wouldn't fire. It just makes backfiring noises. It still doesn't start or run. Needless to say, I am not pleased! Your phone rep was supposed to forward me a list of authorized repair shops, but I have yet to receive it. I want my generator to run in event of a power loss. Please help me to reconcile this situation.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I received my generator, I immediately assembled it. It was very simple and the instructions provided were clear. After I assembled it I tried to run it. It worked perfectly and provided electricity to several of my appliances. I am older (in my 80's) and live in the woods so losing electric occurs during the winter or summer storms. This generator is easy to move on it's wheels which are attached to the frame. I would recommend this product for its convenience and easy to move as well as the electricity it provides.

Only used in one power outage. Handled two fridges, a furnace, large TV, some lights without a glitch. Easy to manuver with the furnished wheel assembly. In the process of installing a seperate manual transfer panel to hook up 30 amp twist lock into the house.

This served us well during Huricane Sandy when we were without power for seven days. It was easy to set up and safe for residential use. My only complaints would be that it is a manual start with a pull cord which is likely not a problem for most folks but more difficult for an older person. The noise level is a little bothersome too. Overall a good product which certainly did the job well. Next time I would get an electric start and hopefully a quieter model.

This generator is amazingly easy to start. I put oil and gas in it and slowly pulled the cord to make sure the engine would turn over freely and it started right up. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because the gas fill cap is in the center of the tank. If it was located closer to the side it would be much easier to add fuel to the tank without spilling it.

I live in Puerto Rico, and since Hurricane María destroyed our power grid, almost 5 years later we are still having constant island-wide blackouts. The most recent in April, 2022, all the generating power plants on the island shut down due to a fire in a switch yard. Four days later, half the island is still without power, including us. I've used it once before during a brief blackout and it did well. Today it looks like we're going to be without power for at least another 24 hours (I had power restored two days ago but today it went out again). I plugged it in to the house with a manual transfer switch. Right now it's nightfall, and I am running two refrigerators, kitchen and living room lights, all ceiling fans running, and not a hiccup from the set. The electrician that installed the transfer switch says that if power doesn't come back later, I could turn off the refrigerators and turn on one bedroom inverter mini-split air conditioner. Thoroughly satisfied with this product. Thank you Generac. Now buying a whole house automatic propane or diesel set and/or a Powerwall with Generac seems like a wise investment. Until then, this GP6500 will do just fine.

I had been looking into getting one since Irma came through and we lost power for a week. Now I have one big enough to run my chest freezer, refrigerator, a lamp and a fan. The box came damaged, but the product was in tact and had all the bolts required to put the handle and wheels on.
