Excellent Product

We chose to purchase a Generac generator as we live in Eastern Canada which is prone to cold snowy winters. We purchased and had installed a generator and Homelink. The unit powers most of our house. It is very dependable and very easy to use. There is nothing confusing about its use. I really like the guarantee and ease of getting it serviced if necessary.

Generac 6500

I had previously owned a Generac 6500 and needed another unit due to the worst ice storm to hit in decades. I found a unit 3 hours away. It was worth the trip. I cut open the box, added the oil, handle and wheels. Put gas in the tank, and it fired up on the first pull. Quality I knew I could trust. It was worth the trip to bypass the lesser known brands.

love the easy start

Haven't actually used it yet as we haven't lost power. BUT I had a friend put it together for me and he showed me how to start it up and it is so easy for me - I'm a girl and sometimes these mechanical things are tricky for me. I'm not dumb by any means - but I'm very busy with full time work and raising kids and was caring for my elderly Dad (who helped me buy the generator ... by the way). So, sometimes I don't have time to figure out stuff ... anyway it's a nice product - only complaint is it doesn't say how much of the oil you package with the machine should be mixed with the gas - we assumed all of it but ... and I am concerned about the gas sitting in it. I had to fuel it up to be sure it worked after I purchased it, but since I haven't used it and may not for a while ??? I'll read the book to see! Thanks and please don't share my personal info. Thank you again.

Ready!

I found the unit to be well made. As big as it was, it is easier to move than I thought it would be. Well balanced. All features are well marked. I purchased the unit for power outage during severe weather. This unit replaces a smaller unit that could not handle all of our needs. The investment will be worth it when we lose power again out here in the country.

Feeling good about having a good generator

Purchased the unit in the morning and had it fully loaded up and operating that afternoon. It handled 6kw of electric heat without any issue which would be the maximum load I would expect to have on this generator in winter conditions. I have a generator panel so have the ability to switch load as I need it including heat, water pump, refrigerator, freezer etc. While I'm not looking forward to the next major power outage I do feel much more prepared for that event.

Just runs and runs

I'm no Nor Cal and have been experiencing the PG&E Power Safety Shutoff. My neighbor had one of these 8000's and I was fortunate enough to find one as well. Electrician came and wired it into my panel and wow...my whole house just runs like it's on PG&E. Some little weird stuff to get used to, like when the well kicks on, the LED lights in the kitchen flicker for a second but no big deal. Hot showers (propane hot water heater), lights, etc. I go into a room and turn on the light...just like normal. Only complaint is it's loud so getting it away from the house is important but we just close up the windows and deal with a bit of a hum to have power.

Good product

Bought this as a replacement for a Coleman 5500 Vertex that quit producing power. Assembly was straight forward for the wheel kit and handle. Started right up and is noticeably quieter than my old unit. I like the pull cord backup if the battery is dead. Its also nice that is has a fuel gauge. My complaints are the non-charging engine so the battery is only charged from the included 120 volt charger. The other complaint is the electric start switch is on the front panel of the unit and the choke which you have to set before starting and then adjust/turn off upon starting is on the end of the unit. Either move the switch near the choke or add a choke adjustment cable pull on the front panel.

Gets the job done

This unit is able to be stored and rolled out when needed. I use it as home backup generator and it runs everything great. I wish it was quieter, but it’s not too bad. There is some rattling on the heat shield. But once it gets heated up it pretty much goes away.

Great Gen

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was very simple to put together and it fired up on the first pull. We use this for our camper should we go out in the woods without hook ups. Like I stated it fires right up and works AWESOME. My brother is looking for one and I have suggested this to him.

Excellent generator.

This generator came well crated and delivered on time. I was impressed with the ease of start up and was amazed at the included maintenance kit. (extra spark plugs, plug wrench, primary and secondary air filter, oil filter). I have not had a chance to power the entire house with the unit but it starts easily and runs strong. Although I do not look forward to a lengthy power outage (which has been more frequent lately in my rural setting) I feel much more at ease having a well built machine as a back up.
