Cheap, Thin, Enamel Coating

One star because the only reason why anyone would buy this is for the enamel coating. The enamel coating is not resilient. We've used and washed twice and enamel coating has chipped in three places; two on lid and one on one of the handles. This thing is nowhere near Le Creuset quality. Performance wise, well, it's heavy, and it's a dutch oven. I already own a Made in USA Lodge cast iron dutch oven and hoped the enamel would have been a nice addition. I'll be saving my money for a Le Creuset.....there is a factory store at State Line/Primm outlets.

Love it!

I have seen dutch ovens before and have always been expensive. Last year when shopping at local Sam's Club, it was on sale. A value I felt I could not pass up! I am so happy I purchased it. I love to cook soups, stews, and casseroles. Its big enough to fit a whole chicken. The drawback is that the item is heavy. After cooking, and pot has cooled, I soak it and it comes clean easily.

Dutch Oven, get one!

Got inspired to get a Dutch oven after seeing my bro-inlaw using one. Don't know how I got along without it for so long. Used it over 30+ times for stews, soups, gumbo, roasts. Well built, solid, even heat distribution. Reduced my cooking time by 25%. And, uses less heat than other stew pots. If you cook regularly add this to your arsenal. I'll pass this down to my kids if/when I'm done with it. Someone complained it was too heavy. Its CAST IRON. Smh.

Verified Purchase

Great for bread!

I purchased this to bake bread, and it has been fantastic! I made the same rustic sourdough loaf I have been make for a couple of years and using this method really elevated the final product. The quality is good and the price was very reasonable. I am looking forward to trying other things in it.

DO NOT miss the opportunity to get this!!!

I have always coveted the Le Creuset cookware but couldn't justify a second mortgage to pay $300 for a pot. I saw the cheaper version of this at Walmart & the yearnings started all over. Unfortunately, it had a plastic looking knob that really turned me off. Then I saw this one at Sam's & the heavens opened.& the angels sang. I KNEW eventually I would have to go into therapy if I didn't get it. I wanted the blue but all they had left was the red. Okay, well, if I have to. It is a gorgeous glossy ruby red. The photo doesn't do it justice. In 4 days I've used it 3 times. I love it! It's replaced 2 pans that have gone in the donations box already. The ONLY drawback is it's heavy. Not for the cook w/ weak wrists or a bad back!!

Great Cookware

Although it is heavy. I would not recommend for the very elderly. However is a good buy for the young Moms who still have those fine motor skills in their hands. Cooks Great. Easy to clean in the sink. Very worth the price. I bought two. Down side the store did not have variety of colors but am sure if you want other colors you can get them online.

Great deal! You WANT this pot. You NEED this pot :)

Very impressed by quality and design, too. The stainless steel lid knob is a nice touch - even Le Creuset has bakelite (plastic) knobs unless you pay for a premium line. I've made 2 braised dishes so far and very pleased with performance and also how easy it cleans. By the time you're ready to wash it, nothing's really sticking - just fill it with hot water and use a sponge + dish soap. It's also just beautiful. And I like the shape and design of the lid a little better than some of the standard Le Creuset pots. Granted, Le Creuset has some really nifty items, but they are $350. It's pointless to argue whether Le Creuset is better. This pot costs less than shipping back to France if you ever need their lifetime warranty. It's very well made. From what I've read France and China are the only places in the world that make this type of product, at least as available to us here in the US. FWIW Lodge enameled pots are made in China too and IMHO this Tramontina is a better deal. I have several bare cast iron seasoned cookware items - skillets and a large and small camp oven. Those are great, but I've always wanted enameled - because sometimes you just want to leave the dish in the pot and move to the fridge and not worry about rusting or reseasoning. And it looks great and the light interior makes it easier to assess the progress visually (which is why they like them in cooking shows, it looks better on camera).

Inside enamel chips

I only use this two to three times in the winter for soups and chili. When I had bought this I noticed a thin spot in the enamel inside. Well now this is popping off and exposing the cast iron. I will be returning since there is a life time warranty. So open it up and check it out. The inside turns dark no matter how you clean it.

Great Dutch Oven for the price

I've been needing a good Dutch oven for our vacation home, but didn't want to spend the whole bank account on the "French" version. This pot was highly rated by America's Test Kitchen in its earlier form, so I figured, how bad could it be in its new design? I'm not disappointed! It's heavy, has a roomy floor for browning food, the 6.5 quart volume is perfect for soups and stews. And it's very attractive! I'm very happy with this purchase.

Absolutely love it

Cooks just as good as the expensive ones. I have made many things in it in the 3 weeks that I've owned it including, country style ribs, pot roast, marshmallow crisp treats, & potato soup. Sprayed with non-stick spray, NOTHING has stuck to it. Absolutely a breeze to clean up.
