supreme blend bird seed

I bought this starting this year and was amazed what wsa mixed in. Birds keep coming of all kinds including Tit mouse, yellow and purple finches, cardinals, blue jays (but lesser), downy woodpeckers, large woodpecker, squirrels, blue birds occassionally who typically eat bugs, rose brested grossbeak, crows of course til I scare them, others...Surprised they mixed in raisens and nuts. A good amount of sun flower which was the sole food before until the price shot thru the roof. Maybe Sams can carry an all sunflower brand too. I use an old oatmeal container to fill my 2 tube feeders with one container so I don't drag anything anywhere....be creative.

This stuff is great

For years I have been making a 50/50 mix of a premium blend + black oil sunflower. Then seed prices went through the roof, so I started looking for alternatives. This seed has no Milo (filler that birds don't eat) and lots of black oil sunflower. The protein/fat/fiber analysis is outstanding and comparable to my 50/50 mix. At Sam's low price for 40lbs you can't beat it!

Buying this will attract Birds so, be Ready!

This is great for feeding our feather friends. But, remember it attracts all the feather friends. Black birds too! Hawks that go after the birds you feed. Chipmunks and squirrels that like the seed as well. Which brings the hawks even more because, now they have a choice of food. So, if you enjoy feeding the feather friends just be careful what you wish for. Having not so out in the open is the better deal bigger birds and hawks don't like cramped up spaces. I put the light up yard sticks with butterflies etc. around the birdfeeders and it's kinda hard now to make a ten point landing for a grab and go meal for the hawks now. But, the little birds, cardinals, etc. love the feed.

best bird seed for price

Love birds? Buy this bird seed and they'll flock to your feeder. Black oil sunflowers, peanuts, millet, and more is a combo that entices goldfinches, cardinals, woodpeckers, titmice, and others... I've bought comparably priced and more expensive seed mixes that were mostly millet or other inexpensive seeds...this one gives you bang for your buck and your feathered friends will be winging their thanks to you!

Good birdseed but not as good as it was

This was a fairly decent price but I was really unimpressed with the heavy addition of sunflower seeds, rendering it less useful for bird feeders meant for smaller song birds. This used to be a better balance for all the songbirds. It is now almost black with all the sunflower seeds. The birds still empty the feeders but now they knock the feed out on the ground to get to the little seeds. The squirrels are grateful.

seeds or sticks?

We have been using this brand of bird food for approximately 2 years. I love the blend but over the past 6 months the "trash" has more than doubled. I expect some "trash" but certainly not what I have been finding in this product. I have sent my concerns to the manufacturer and have not even received any response from them at all. I am very disappointed and will start shopping around. I prefer not to pay for sticks, bark and twigs.

The worse bird food ever

I bought this product in a 40 Lb bag and after filling my feeders with it, I didn't have many birds coming to it. They don't like it as well as other foods I've bought. The biggest complaint is too much trash and lots of sand / gravel in it. I would dare to say, that it has 20% trash and probably, the sand is 15% of the weight of the bag. I've filled out a complaint at the manufactures web site at valleysplendor.com and it wouldn't even let me submit it after trying to 5 times. So called and left messages with no return phone call. I called Sam's and they said to bring it in and get a refund. I will not buy this again.

Gypsy Moths

Hello: I've been buying Valley Splendor Supreme Bird Seed from Sam's Club for several years but am very disappointed with my last two 40-Lb bag purchases, both bought at different times within the last six months. Both were loaded with gypsy moth larvae and adult moths. I've tried to get rid of the larvae by putting the bags out in the hot sun all day, but that didn't do any good. Apparently the tiny eggs are very resistant. I filled my two large Droll Yankee bird feeders with the seed anyway, after picking out as many larvae as I could see, hoping the birds would still eat the seed, but the decaying remains of the eggs, hatched larvae and associated fine webbing messed the bird seed and the feeder up so badly that the birds wouldn't eat the food. I ended up throwing about half of the first bag and all of the second bag away, in addition to having to take my feeders apart and scour them out. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Also, I thought you would want to be made aware of the problem.

Would like to rate it high, but it has not been th

I have been buying your Valley Splendor for a long time. I have always been very pleased. The last three bags have not been the same. The sunflowers are so small and the seed can hardly be found. The squirrels are not even trying to eat them. I like your bird seed, but feel that I am wasting my money. Wish something could be done to have a larger seed . Juanita Sutherland

Crazy Price Increase

This is crazy I can't believe the price increase I didn't mind it when it went up a couple of bucks I mix it with sunflower seeds and cardinal food I buy from WW which is now unaffordable as well my birds and squirrels love it but we're on a fixed income what can I say they still have to eat just have to cut more corners.
