Does not fit well in a vinyl window frame

I was not going to buy another GE air conditioner, at the last one failed after 2 years. This GE air conditioner was one of the lowest price devices at my store and suits my needs. Except for the rattle it make coming from the front grill it makes plenty of cold air. I have a 1800 square feet house and I use two 5000 btu units to keep the whole house cool. With exception for the hottest of days where we turn on a third air conditioner the two units keep us comfortable.

One bedroom window is odd shaped. It only opens up 12". Very hard to find a low profile a/c.. Was very happy when I found this one at Sams. Arrived fast. Easy to install. Even though its only 5000 BTU, it cooled off the room quickly. Easy to read dial. Very happy with purchase.

Based on the reviews and some research I selected this AC because of its simplicity to operate and price. What I love about this unit is it is small, does not have a display light to keep you up at night, and simple to operate. I really like the way the vent adjuster works - it is a manual rotation that adjusts the entire output area. NOW the bad stuff - it just did not cool. It outputs a little cold air initially but then just fades out. The room would have been cooler with a small window fan and outside air. I tested this for about 16 hours and it did not improve. Unfortunately I have to take it back. I will order another model.

This AC is perfect for a smaller space! It’s a straight forward, simple to operate unit that works twice as well as the one we replaced! Thanks GE for putting the same quality in your smaller appliances as we’ve come to expect in your larger units!!

A perfect size AC for a smaller room that faces the sun most of the day. Easy to install, much lighter to handle, fits standard windows perfectly. It runs quiet and has plenty of power to blow the chilled air into the room. A good price point for this little dynamo.

Purchased to replace an older GE 5,000BTU unit. The entire unit is cheaply made and does NOT easily fit smaller window openings due to the design of the sliding window mounts. The plastic overuse causes constant vibration noises and unit fails to put out the cool of my earlier, 15 year old model, The entire appearance, construction and look reeks of poor quality.

I have a 14x 20 upstairs flex room with bathroom that is currently being occupied by my adult son. Since it is the only upstairs room it gets hot on Summer days in Texas, although the downstairs is comfortable. I installed this a/c unit upstairs as a booster for the single zone central unit and it works great. It is now cool and comfortable on hot summer days and is much quieter than I anticipated.

This is my 2nd GE 5,000 BTU AC. The first one has been used for 5 years and still works like new. This one, however, sounds like a fan is slapping a balloon and can't be used at night if you're a light sleeper. It cools good, like its counterpart, but the fan is just too loud. I don't think the quality is as good as the older one I own. Even when I turn it off, the fan slows down and slaps a balloon before coming to a stop. Disappointed in this one.

I have a tiny 120sqft room with a slopped ceiling. I figured this AC would do the job but it does not. Even set to max cool it can't keep the room cool on a 70 degree day. It also rattles super loud unless I pull the filter slightly out. I would have returned it but I didn't install it until 30+ days after in bought it. I thought GE was trustworthy, I guess not.
