This pergola was exactly what we were looking for without the hassle of a DIY. We went with the 20' by 12' and the pictures prove it all. Instructions were easy to follow. It took my husband a total of almost two days on and off throughout the week. He did it on his own. We are happy so far.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this 6 months ago and it has been a great addition to our backyard! Shipment was fast and all the parts were labeled and easy to separate by using the instructions. The color we chose makes it so easy to decorate around and the boards at top make it easy to add lighting to. Having the power source on the side works perfect for electricity as we've plugged fans, phones, and radios up to it numerous times. The structure is very solid and we get so many compliments on it. We also waterproof sealed it to protect it as recommended. Definitely recommend this product!

We've had this for awhile now. It's not exactly what the intended use was going to be, but we decided to go with an entertainment space (was originally doubled to use as covered carport but my SUV was too big). We are very pleased. It is well built (though the top boards could be a little sturdier). It has ample room for entertainment space and we've really enjoyed using it! It was also super easy to put together.

I bought this last June, and it arrived fairly quickly. I paid my landscape architect to assemble it and with a 2.5 person crew, it took about 4 hours. Lots of pieces, but they figured it out. The pergola is solid and the color is beautiful. It has withstood several storms and gusty wind days this past year. To protect , maintain, and preserve the cedar for years to come, I'm planning to put a clear coat of stain on it later this month. I am really satisfied with how it looks. I just wish they made them taller.

This will be the second summer we have used this pergola. I am still pleased with it. I followed others advice and treated the wood with spar urethane before assembly. It would be easier to assemble with a couple adults. However, I was able to put it up with a little help from my 11 year old daughter. When the Oklahoma heat ramps up, I put a shade cloth over it to provide more shade. Over all I am very pleased with the pergola.

We have a 2 1/2 acre property and adding pergolas to key areas has created places to enjoy the different parts of the property in shade. Pergolas also beautify and have an elegance to them and protect outdoor furniture…all the reasons we purchased 3. The Backyard Discovery products are well made/beautiful with good instructions and good customer service. We purchased a 20x12 and financed it and it made it so easy to buy a larger priced item. Highly recommend the company and products. The items are just as pictured.

Price is far less than others, but quality is not much less. Very happy with my purchase, using it as a decorative car port in an area too small for anything else. Did need to re-drill 3-4 holes in the top slats, but the rest fit together well. Recommend reading the instructions.

I really like the way it looks. The new mods of a seat and eating bar on the opposite side have made this product even better. It doesn't provide much shade, so I put 2 x 4's in between the roof 2 x 2's and it gives us shade from the hit Texas sun. X

Mine has been up for 2 months now and it has completely transformed my patio. Installation is a breeze if you can follow simple directions and take your time. My wife and I put our pergola together in about 4-5 hours. The quality of the materials is much more nicer than any other pergola kit I have seen at the big box stores, I’m confident it will last for many years.

Pros: Great wood, durable hardware, good design. Very solid. Extra hardware. Cons: Plastic caps on top of four set posts leave 1/8" gap so that brace boards are unable to have bolds and nuts be threaded through - too much space. We tried cutting some of the edges and ultimately discarded the caps. Instructions not detailed enough to explain that two of four brace boards have a row of holes along their top (for the lattice) and need to be placed on outside of the two that lack holes. Probably should have had an extra page in the instructions for this or give the boards with holes a separate number. Neutral: Plastic base plates too flimsy for Florida hurricanes. We used steal base plates that worked well. Interior of set post are not solid cedar, but ripped pine 2x4s. However, cedar overlay done very well - looks like solid cedar. Wish the brace boards were 14' long w/o extensions, but shorter boards with extensions seems to work. Really need three people for this construction, not two.
