I have been buying Nestle morsels for decades. I've dabbled in generics at the grocery store...but nestle bag at Sam's is a consistent solid price. I use them for both making cookies and also handfuls at a time.
I love dark chocolate. 70%...80%...heck yeah. as ir approaches 90%, the enjoyment decreases.
I also used to love dove dark chocolate. u believe something has changed. these dove dark chocolate promises...these aren't the same. and the more digging I do, what I thought was dark chocolate with benefits are not. and...I just don't feel like paying $5 for a Lindt bar. $1.40 or so an ounce is just high.
I saw these at Sam's...and said...they are a lot more expensive than Nestle, but...I feel compelled to do it ..or at least try it
was disappointed to see they were only 55% cacao...and scored very low on the yuka app. but ..I said let me try them. iw as expecting a nice dark chocolate chip. nope.
no sugar added. k. that matters.
and the back of package says...DOES NOT MEET THE STANDARD OF IDENTITY FOR CHOCOLATE, PER FDA REGULATIONS.
I.....have never seen that before...no clue what that means.
ingredients. chocolate liquor, inulin, erythritol, cocoa butter, sunflower lecithin, vanilla extract, stevia leaf reb m.
so...I won't be buying these again. they do not taste like chocolate or dark chocolate. oh...I guess bc it isn't. silly me...I saw Dark Chocolate flavored no sugar added baking chips....i thought they were chocolate chips. nope.
just like genuine leather ain't leather...and kraft singles ain't cheese.
I saw trader Joe's dark chocolate chips for about the same price as these at Sam's. I'll have to try those and see if those work. I'm ok with moving on from nestle...but I what I now to is still up in the air. it won't be these.
and....I see these barely moving at Sam's. even if there is a 50% or 60% off clearance sale ....I'll almost knee jerk reaction go to put some in my cart...as I do love a deal...but I'll have to stop and think to myself....nope. even though the price is amazing...when you go to eat them, you're going to ask yourself...why did you buy these again?
no wonder vegans are never in happy moods. this is what counts as chocolate for them.
