A month had almost gone by and we finally got our money back, I called Backyard Discovery direct and within a few days as promised we got our Pergalo and simply love it! Thank you for working with us!

After reading many reviews, we decided to purchase the 12x20 Beaumont pergola for the far side of our pool area. It is the perfect addition and finishes the space beautifully serving as a separation between the pool area and backyard “fun.” The pergola is real wood and very heavy (when putting together). My husband and I (ages 52 and 46) did it together with help from our 17 year old son when lifting. It took us some time (a full Saturday), but that included organizing the pieces before starting. We also worked slowly as I wanted to be sure we were doing it correctly to eliminate the need to undo and redo something - which would be a lot of work. We chose to paint our pergola (Turkish Coffee by Sherman Williams) to match our Tudor home as the natural stain the wood comes in was too light for our surrounding decor. We also strung lights and added curtains for comfort. This space is a favorite - even amongst the teenagers! We only put our pergola up a few weeks ago, but it’s heavy, solid and obviously high quality. I would highly recommend this particular pergola (12x20 Beaumont). Side note, the delivery was easy and the product arrived sooner than we expected. It comes in 4 large (heavy) boxes.

It's a good value and quality compared to other brands. Putting it together was not easy, but it was well worth it. It looks great and it feels very solid. I haven't felt the need to attach it to the ground as it is heavy and will not blow over.

I left a 1 star review a couple weeks ago because after a month and a half, I hadn't received my pergola. After weeks of being told 'tomorrow' by the shipping company, I went and picked it up myself. The pergola is beautiful and the cedar smells wonderful. It took me about 6 hours to assemble everything except the 1x's on the top. Is give this a 5 if it wasn't for the shipping fiasco.

And it was easy to put together!! Again, this pergola is a beautiful addition that adds so much character to my outdoor space.

I purchased 4 of these 10x12's and combined them into one gisnt pergola. it's awesome. Yes you need a minimum of two additional people to assist you. As mentioned in the other reviews some of the holes do not line up. I discovered this early in the build and purchased the appropriate long drill bit. From that point on all of the holes were drilled prior to assembly or drilled when assembled as with the ends. I did have to purchase additional P1 & P2 long & short purlins and add a 20' center redwood purlin of my own to join them. I did not secure the posts to the concrete. the weight alone keeps it in place and will allow me to move it if necessary. The result is spectacular. I even had enough pieces left over to make a 5th pergola. I just needed to purchase 2 additional joists and some P1's & P2's The quality of the wood is great. You just can't get this kind of Cedar anywhere else. Make sure you treat it with water seal preferably before or during or after assembly. Brush or spray works great. I used a 2 gallon garden sprayer. I am in a very dry desert climate and do not expect it rot due to moisture, but just to be safe I did anyway. Yes it may be a chore to build but it's worth it. .

I purchased the 14x10 pergola last fall and absolutely love it. I put it together myself over the course of a weekend (without an extra set of hands, I had to be creative and used step ladders to lean sections upright when fastening together). It’s trickier that way…but still manageable. I was amazed at how well the pieces were marked. Most pre-drilled holes were lined up well, except for a few where I simply had to help with a drill. I have it on our back deck, which has created an entirely new feel and an outdoor oasis - almost like a bonus room. Now I am just looking for some type of cloth shade covering to add on for additional sun protection. BYD - do you have any recommendations?

We had 2 smaller resin pergolas in another part of our yard that provided a climbing structure for grapevines. We wanted to move these and provide a more elegant solution. High quality materials and clear assembly instructions facilitated the construction project. We've received many complements on the end results. We are a couple of miles from the coast and In the short time we've had it it's withstood a few hefty windstorms with no issue. This Backyard Discovery 10x10 pergola more than satisfied our expectations.

Pros: Great wood, durable hardware, good design. Very solid. Extra hardware. Cons: Plastic caps on top of four set posts leave 1/8" gap so that brace boards are unable to have bolds and nuts be threaded through - too much space. We tried cutting some of the edges and ultimately discarded the caps. Instructions not detailed enough to explain that two of four brace boards have a row of holes along their top (for the lattice) and need to be placed on outside of the two that lack holes. Probably should have had an extra page in the instructions for this or give the boards with holes a separate number. Neutral: Plastic base plates too flimsy for Florida hurricanes. We used steal base plates that worked well. Interior of set post are not solid cedar, but ripped pine 2x4s. However, cedar overlay done very well - looks like solid cedar. Wish the brace boards were 14' long w/o extensions, but shorter boards with extensions seems to work. Really need three people for this construction, not two.

We did a major backyard makeover and wanted a structure for shade and design. This pergola is gorgeous! Beautiful color. Great quality and price. I can’t believe this is my patio! The only thing I would do different is hire someone to install it. I did it with the help of 3 other people over 2 days. The instructions and BILT app were good but said you needed 2 adults. No way. Attaching the main frame pieces to posts was not easy! It took 3 strong men to lift the structure several times to align the holes for the bolts. After that, it was much easier. Overall…beautiful patio addition.
