Purchased at the end of 2021 after years of waiting for the perfect price, color, size and wood quality ! After assembling this pergola with my handy boyfriend, I ❤️ my pergola! It provides shade on hot sunny days and a comfy cozy area around the fire pit in the evening! We brushed a clear water repellent on the entire pergola! This pergola has been talk of the neighborhood and I definitely can’t brag enough !!!

I bought this a year ago. Did have to keep checking the site and store to see when it would come back into stock. Luckily, I didn't have to wait to long. This pergola was exactly what my back yard needed...I looks amazing. Easy to set-up and love the convenience of having an electrical outlet in close proximity. Great design.

I ordered the Somerville 14 x 10 Pergola from Sams Club in January for a steal of a deal at $799. The only catch was I had to pick it up from the store. It was a bit of a bear to get it in the back of my truck, but I got it home safely. My FIL and I put it together a couple of weekends ago and so far I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I would have paid more and been happy, but with the price I paid the value cannot be beat. A couple of pieces of wood did get damaged during installation, but Backyard Discovery is replacing them for free along with providing some additional stain. I cannot say enough great things about their customer service. I called them on Monday and the replacement pieces are scheduled to arrive on Thursday. Holly and Chelsea were great! This company stands behind their products, so I would not hesitate recommending them to friends and family.

We bought the Somerville 14 x 10 Pergola about a month ago as a complement to our recently installed brick paver patio and we absolutely love it. The design and size are perfect for our needs, providing just the right amount of sunlight filtering and shade during the brightest, sunny afternoons. Since we have a front porch with space for dining, we decided to make the patio a space for sectional lounging and we've spent countless days and evenings her ever since. The gray finish looks natural, the quality of the wood and the construction components are high, the assembly was straightforward (2 people over the length of an afternoon) and there were no issues with the shipping or delivery. The built in electrical outlets are a bonus. Highly recommended.

For the convenience of buying this pergola with all the pieces cut and pretty sanded already for a DIY assembly, as well as it being nice cedar, it truly does hit all the marks. The ambiance is quite beautiful and it is a great addition to our yard. It is pretty easy to assemble with two people. Of course, read your instructions and plan your assembly. It can be easy to confuse your pieces and the perspective in the diagrams so be careful. It took one day to assemble everything. There are a few extra hardware screws and washers included, which is great. You also might need a step ladder to hold up a key piece with a two person team to make it easier to bolt down. As I learned from another reviewer, order a can of matching stain free from Backyard Discovery for the inevitable touchups. I also had a couple of pieces with a chunk broken out or a smash, which were thankfully easy to get replaced and shipped out for free from Backyard Discovery. Also, I found it quite worth it to use a good exterior varnish to protect the pergola. I used the "M" name brand that ends in ""X" of their Spar Urethane Clear Gloss varnish (but make sure it is the oil based version if you use it, as the water based version is not good). Another reviewer said to varnish before assembly, which I realized rather fast that it takes forever, drips everywhere, sticks, creates skin, etc. So I varnished after assembly of all the lower sections except the numerous thin perlin slats that go on top, and got at least one coat on before the pergola spent too long in the sun and rain. I am going to finish two more spar urethane coats this season. Also, I ordered this pergola from Sam's club and it was easy to get service from BD afterwards. For those who might ask, is it worth it? I would say after staging everything around the pergola, such as potted plants and chairs for our yard, it is quite well worth the purchase. I think our photos prove that point. Btw, it did not really need the purlins installed to complete a good look and is perfectly functional without them. Also, we thought at first... would the dark walnut color work? And we soon realized, yes indeed. Enjoy!

We wanted a pergola to go on our outdoor patio to help block some of the sun but not block it out completely. I found this pergola on Sams.com and it was the perfect size and with the added outlet feature it was a no brainer. Some of the wood pieces came warped which made installation a bit challenging but I made it work.

I bought this last summer and got it set up right away. It is a good size and great price. I do wish it had more coverage from the sun, but I was able to put a sail over it and it works great. I moved it a couple of times, and although it's heavy, it didn't break.

I was surprised at the quality of the materials. The flawless stained finish was uniform and durable. The hardware was complete and easy to work with. Instructions were clear and thorough. Assembly is straightforward if you pay attention to the directions. The only thing I can criticize is that one of the reabbertsd on a rafter was cut too short, but that was easily fixed with a handsaw.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Before purchasing the Somerville Pergola our Patio was unappealing. The Pergola is beautiful and made our patio very inviting. We now enjoy sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air. While you can buy cheaper Pergola's you certainly won't get the quality that this Somerville one offers. We absolutely love it!

From the great instructions to the final result, this pergola is exactly the thing I was hoping for. It has added a whole new dimension to my yard and expanded the living space. We have delighted in sitting under it in the morning with coffee and the evening with homemade wine. Thank you for a beautiful structure!
