Big waste of time

Printer has a lot of steps to set up. Also wants u to sign up for HP+ in order to have all printer options available to you. Additionally it wants a monthly fee applied for ink. After spending a lengthy time with set up, E9 error code popped up and spent over an hour on phone with support.. they couldn't fix it and wanted to send replacement.. no thanks! Returning to store.

Terrible

Printer keeps going offline sort of - scanner works but print says it is offline. Works for awhile then mysteriously goes offline for printing. Says to turn it on and off to reboot, still offline for printing unless it is removed and reinstalled several times. The stupid light glows continuously and cant be turned off. Printer can be turned off from a nearly invisible button on the back, didn't see it for awhile and had to unplug to turn it off and on. Never the less troubleshooter says to unplug it anyway to reboot. No direct control of anything except for that. Trouble shooter worthless, says it is fixed when it isn't. Installing starts with a commercial to sign up for autopay subscriptions that seem to be part of installation requirement but aren't. Maybe not signing up is why it screws up continuously. Worst printer I ever bought. taking it back with prejudice. The $89 Epson it replaced lasted 5+ years.

Needs to be "rebooted" daily

It's a decent printer for a verv cheap price. It has a few limitations THAT ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!! 1.It goes "off line" constantly. No reason, nothing I'm doing ... It requires that I reboot my modem and PC to wake it up. Others have observed this. 2. The ink smears when using a "high-lighter" 3. I couldn't imagine before I bought it, but the copy function is only 1:1 (size of copies). There is no reduce/enlarge, darken/lighten, etc. The automatic adjustments yield good copies but it is of limited usefulness.

HORRIBLE printer - ZERO stars

If I could select ZERO stars I would. Printer always goes offline. Printer "copy" lights do not illuminate. Troubleshooting indicates no problems. Cell Phone app shows different status than PC HPSmart. The WORST electronic item I have ever purchased.

Verified Purchase

HP and Instant Ink..Keep it coming.

Easy to set up and I was already a fan of instant ink. I was skeptical about going from individual color cartridges to tri color but seems to work fine. The HP Envy 6458e is noisy on printing and paper handling but I don't mind that as I don't do that much printing and I'm not in a busy office. The photo I printed was excellent and the numerous documents I printed were clear. Love it. Good job HP.

Terrible Experience

We've been long-time users of HP products and printers. Bought this one expecting the same HP quality we've previously known. Printing is acceptable - when it prints! Connection issues constantly with this machine, then it prints only partial pages. Where we really went wrong though is signing up for the HP Instant Ink subscription plan. We've spent over $119 in monthly charges, have run out of ink, are getting charged for pages that we try to print (only partially printed) and never received any replacement cartridges. I cancelled our subscription to avoid any further charges - which makes the printer useless... it will not print at all without a subscription once you start this plan. Just chatted with customer service... their solution? Get us signed back up with another subscription. No thank you.

Poor printing qualify

I got this printer a couple months ago for light home use. I have never had trouble with HP printers before, but the print qualify on this is not only bad, but if you don't use it for a couple days, you have to rerun the cleaner, which runs you out of ink faster. Do not buy this printer.

Wouldn't Stay Connected

We realize there is a stock and chip shortage, which is unfortunate when your old device kicks out. This printer not only wouldn't connect to our WIFI but even after connecting the usb, we had to keep the cable plugged in because of the faulty wireless

Waste of Time and $$$$

I bought this printer just over a year ago. I bought it because of the outstanding HP Envy 4500 I have had for several years with great results! This is a loser. The first 6 months it was ok, but had a few connection issues. Now, just over a year, it will not stay connected and takes hours to connect when it does. It would print the printer info forms, but now it will not print documents and when it did, they looked like the black ink was empty, but it wasn't. And finally last night it simply died. No power, will no come on after numerous attempts to reset and plug and unplugging. I'm done. I signed up for HP instant ink and never got one cartridge and I assume it was because the printer would not stay connected. My wifi is good, this is trash today.

Worst HP printer I have ever purchased

I bought this printer for its sleek look and also because I needed something for occasional printing at home. Sadly, this printer did not print when I really needed to print something. I spent 2 hours on the phone with a technician to resolve the wifi connection issues. He took over my computer and resolved it after more than an hour. Printer worked fine, printed a few pages. Again, after a few days, same problem. It automatically disconnects from wifi. I am returning this product. So disappointed in HP:(
