Love this trash/recycle bin. Good quality and as good as those selling for twice the price. The bin size is larger than all on the market. We sort our recycles and empty them daily so the bin size is great for recycling but I wish the trash side was a bit larger. The standard 13 gallon trash bag fits fine though. The handle to pull up the bin sits underneath the bag making it useless with a trash bag in the bin. I leave a folded kitchen towel at the bottom of the recycle bin to absorb drippings including water from rinsed items so it doesn’t accumulate in the bottom of the bin. A cotton bag that could be washed periodically would be great for this side. Both bins are black, not blue and black like the picture. This has worked out fine seeing that I only put a trash bag in the trash side and I put a sticker on the recycle side. I’ve had the system for two weeks and am quite pleased

8 gallons per side is a little small. The trash fills up fast. The trash bag is hard to synch around the can and insert without coming undone so we use a large rubber band to hold the bag to the can. There is no way to open the lid without using the foot pedal. A handle would be great.

Received this can today and even though it was very well packaged it has 4 big dents in it. I will be returning because the stainless steel is very thin so no doubt denting will continue to be a problem. Sure, I could hammer it out with a rubber mallet but for $110. I shouldn't have to.

I like the trash can so far for what I needed it for. I also put knobs on the top to be able to open either way as I have mine sideways to fit in the space I have. Knobs work great. I chose it over others for price and I like it has separate lids so both don’t have to be open to use. Normal bags don’t fit great but we make due. As not buying specialty ones. Overall happy with purchase.

Wife and I purchased an automatic trash can from Costco and it was impossible to remove the trash bag from the can when it was full (I have seen several people return this trash can when I'm at Costco). My wife didn't like the fact that I was the only one who could take out the trash. This trash can makes it very easy to remove the plastic interbin that has a metal handle to pull the bin up and we are recycling more because of the dual bin component. We have our first child on the way and it will be fun to teach him how to recycle with the two bins.

I really like the size of the bins and it's perfect for our recycling and trash. My only issue is that it has a handle to lift out the trash bin but the handle doesn't allow the trash bag to fit snugly inside the bin. It's hard to explain but usually the bag is bunched up on the outside. Not a huge problem, just an irritating one. I'll figure out an alternative to that. Also, they suggest that you take out the cardboard piece in the bottom of the bin, however, when you do that there's no bottom so trash ends up on the floor. Seems odd to me.

I got this trash can with the hope that my beagle would not be able to get into because of the weight and shape. We have tried the locking cans but the beagle could knock them down and still get through the locking lid. Despite the weight of this trashcan, the beagle knocked it over and got into the garbage. Fine trashcan to separate your trash, a little smaller than I like but not for you if you have dogs.

Affordable product to use in separating garbage and recycle items compared with others I have seen. It has two individual cans and not a divider that could slip out of the holder. Fits perfectly where I had my previous kitchen trash can. The stainless steel finish matches appliances. Only problem I have is not being able to find plastic trash bags to fit the individual cans. The 13 gallon size does not fit tightly and requires some manuvering when replacing the can inside the unit. However, that is minor compared with having to sort recycle items for pickup which I will no longer have to do with a new trash pickup system starting soon. For larger recycle items, I either fold them to fit or will just toss them into the 96 gallan recycle can that will be provided. I would recommend and buy again.

This is a great trash can/recycling bin for the kitchen. Matches nicely with stainless steel appliances. A household of 2-3 can easily get through a week before having to empty it. The colored trash and recycling stickers stick out, so a subdued recycling logo would have been preferred. But that is a very minor issue and overall I am very happy with this product.

Beautiful and well made, the Step 'N Sort combo trash and recycle bin was the best answer to a kitchen eyesore for us by combining two containers into one. One of the best features is that it has two sturdy inner containers with folding handles allowing removal of the inner containers separately. This feature is also the source of our single reservation about the design of this product. The layout of the folding handles places them inside the container itself, meaning the handle is inside the container with the trash liner bag and is covered up when a liner is in place. This in turn means that when it is time to change the bag, the handle to remove the inner container isn't accessible without first digging for it under the bag. Then, when the bag is pulled from the container, the handle obstructs by hanging on the bag as it is pulled out. A better design would have placed the handle outside the lip of the inner container instead of inside and would eliminate this problem altogether. Meanwhile, we have learned to place the bag liners into the containers so the handles are left outside the bag and, while this allows access to the handles when needed most, it leaves the handles exposed to whatever may be put into the trash and does not solve the problem removing the filled bags because of interference with the handles. Overall, Step N' Sort is an elegant solution to the kitchen trash/recycle problem and we would buy it again in spite of the design issue cited.
