This ice cream is very good! It has fewer calories per scoop for obvious reasons, less rich and lighter than the expensive brands, but very delicious! I feel like I'm getting away with something, watching my weight, but still enjoying a big scoop of ice cream.

I don't know what Breyer's has done to this, but it has become the most horrible ice cream ever! At first I thought it had something to do with my local Walmart, but I have also ordered other quality ice cream from a different brand, and it does not have the problems this Breyer's does. It wasn't until today that I read the ingredients on the "natural" vanilla ice cream. It's no longer milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla beans. It is now milk, cream, sugar, vegetable gum, and "natural" flavors. The ice cream freezes rock hard, but if you try to let it sit out for a few mintues to soften it, the pop will come off, a slimy mess will leak out, and it's gross! So I did research on "vegetable gum" which turns out is a "filler" not just a way to keep ice cream from developing ice crystals. Which the first time we tried to eat this carton, it had ice crystals throughout. This has been an issue for the last month. Never had this problem before with Breyer's. Save yourself some money, and just buy any old generic ice cream. It will taste much better, and you won't have wasted your money. I think Breyer's has found a way to cut corners at the expense of quality, but I am not one to be brand loyal when things become bad. Quality is what I pay for, and this is no longer quality ice cream. Buy some Tillamook, Mayfield, Blue Bunny, heck even the Walmart brand tastes better and creamier than this horrible stuff.

unfortunately, they have changed the ingredients and now contains water and fillers. I had an allergic reaction! Its how I react to corn and many chemicals...manifests as symotoms you get with food poisoning. yeah, had not known they had changed it... (its been the same real ice cream since was a kid, so ate it without looking at the ingredients) unfortunately, no longer real ice cream. First red flag shouldve been that it was not hard when it had been in the freezer... so these added fillers also causes it to be soft and gross and doesnt taste right, not like the real ice cream this used to be. With real ice cream ingredients, it was hard ice cream. Will take me days to recover from the GI pain and food poisoning type reaction. ugh! feel physically horrible AND feel horrible that they have stopped making real ice cream! If you have a bad reaction to dairy, you may be having a reaction to these horrible fillers that so many co's are using, and it may not be that you are intolerant to the milk at all. try some good quality dairy w/o these fillers and see if you are ok w it. Be safe and stand for real food free of fillers!
