My kids love it but hard to put together

My kids love the dome and it's VERY sturdy!! The only issue was assembly! We were short a few nuts and had to omit them. The instructions are very vague and hard to follow. We ended up looking at the picture on the box and putting it together our own way. If you buy this, good luck! Deep breaths and take your time lol

You need to be an octopus

The item is good, the instructions are extremely difficult to follow, its easier to follow the picture. You need to be an octopus to put it together, or at least have 2 to 3 other people help hold all the bars that have to be screwed in with the same bolt. The people who say it was so easy to put together must work for the company. It took 3 of us 3 hours and we will have to start again tomorrow to put the hand holds on and tighten it all up. Its not as strong as I was hoping..the metal seems a bit flimsy...but I'm sure it will last a year or so. If you are not an octopus, or don't have a couple people to help put this together...move on to a different toy.

Worth the wait

We got the climbing dome about a month and a half ago. It took two adults about two hours to put together- the instructions were easy to follow, neither of us cried. It's a great size for my 3 and 5 year olds- they love it. As do all their friends that come over. It's the perfect size for our Chicago lot and is easy enough to move when mowing the grass.

Dome Climber-Earthtone Color

We bought our Dome Climber in the Spring of 2014. We had purchased a "driveway basketball net" for our granddaughter, and the insert advertised this Dome Climber. I was excited, because I had been wanting to add another piece of equipment to our backyard, because my granddaughter was out growing our swing set! But I hadn't found anything appropriate, until I saw the Dome Climber! I ordered it immediately and I have never regretted it. The Dome Climber has held up well, even with Ohio's crazy weather. Because it has low and high bars, it is great fun for children of all ages. My granddaughter 11 yrs. old, climbs up and sits on the top. My 7 yr. old grandson swings back and forth, climbs all around the bars on the outside, and hangs upside down. My 2-1/2 year old grandson hangs from the bars, when his Daddy helps him. He walks in and out of it, and will soon be climbing like his older cousins. We've clothes pinned sheets over it and turned it into a playhouse a few times. Even my Service Dog, a tall black Labrador, enjoys walking in and out of it, and sometimes lays in the middle to rest. I have never been happier with any other playground equipment we have ever purchased. We bought the "earthtone" because at the time, my grandson was into G.I.Joe & camouflage. He loved the color right away! I am so happy that your basketball hoop for the driveway had a flyer in the box advertising this awesome Dome Climber! It is well-built for children of all ages and it's made very safe! The hand and foot holds strategically placed, help the children climb and also keep the joints covered where the climber is screwed together, bar by bar! It came with easy to follow directions, and all the parts were in the box, even all the hardware. It is the very best piece of backyard playground equipment we have ever purchased. Honestly!! We all love it.

Very sturdy. looks very substantial

This piece of equipment is very professional and strong. There is no fear in having multiple children (or even an adult or two) climbing it. It is very sturdy. It is also easy to move if you still want to be able to mow the grass beneath it or don't necessarily want to keep it in one place. It also looks great. It blends in and is not an eyesore due to the natural coloring.

We LOVE it

We purchased this item after seeing one at a friends house. We LOVE it! Not only is it great to climb and hang from, but we had a nylon parachute that fits perfectly over it for an instant fort! Easy to assemble, as my 8 year old daughter was my helper. Took about an hour. Must use three people to move, but otherwise an amazing purchase. One piece arrived with rust, but was promptly sent by Lifetime and was easily replaced. Children ages 4, 8 & 11 love it.

Love the climbing dome; instructions are difficult

We bought this for our grandchild's yard and think it will be wonderful and very sturdy. We bought it cheaper than Amazon as a WalMart special for Xmas 2012 with free pickup at the store. FYI, the box is heavy so you would need help to get it into and out of your car, but the box dimensions are 40 inches long x 24 inches wide x 7 inches deep, so the box should fit in any backseat. When completed, one person can stand inside and move the dome several yards for mowing, etc. The first problem with the instruction book is that our pale metallic brown and dark green rods (Earthtones) were diagrammed as dark and light respectively, which was confusing. Second, the initial step is to make 5 separate units, but the book said to make one Unit and then "repeat 5 times". The book also labeled one crucial joint with the wrong code. Third, about tools. The instructions say that assembly requires a hex (Allen) wrench and a socket wrench with a 1/2" socket. That is wrong. In the early stages of the assembly, a standard socket is not deep enough to tighten the first nut that you put on the long bolts. That first nut does not require a socket wrench and can be tightened using a regular wrench. So for the first nut you need either a deep socket or a standard wrench. However, when you put the handles on the ends of the bolts at the last step of the assembly, you do need a socket wrench. For that, a regular socket is sufficient, but of course a deep socket can handle it, too. So what you need for assembly are the following: (1) a hex (Allen) wrench (2) either (A) a deep 1/2" socket wrench or (B) both of the following (i) a regular 1/2" socket wrench and (ii) any one of the following: (a) a 1/2" box wrench (b) a 1/2" open-end wrench (c) an adjustable (Crescent) wrench Only one person was needed initially to open the box, take inventory (which included one extra knob and one extra set of bolt, washers, and nut), lay out the 5 initial units and assemble them, about a half hour. Thereafter a second person was vital to hold the units up in place for assembly around the dome. We had 3 adults, with the third person giving out the needed parts and reminding the assembler of the order to place the rods on the bolts. We had a large level area for assembly, and took almost 3 hours from starting to open the carton to gathering the waste at the end. We followed the advice of another reviewer not to tighten any joints by tool until the assembly was on the last steps, since inevitably some joints have to be corrected, and a number of the joints have to be unscrewed for more rods to be added as the assembly progresses. The metal rods will not be a problem in summer heat, the reviewers said, but the rods felt cold at freezing temperatures. We are very pleased (5 stars) with the product overall and anticipate a lot of interest. The family already has a parachute that will be fun to put over it. But the assembly problems took off one star in expectations. Since you are now forewarned, I urge you to get this product!

Great addition to the back yard

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids preschool had one of these and my kids loved it. They would play on it for hours so I decided to get one for my back yard. It was a great addition to the backyard and would definitely recommend this to anybody with children.

Great for a wide range of ages!

I bought a dome climber to match our Lifetime swing set. My grandchildren are ages 8 and younger. All the children 2 and older are loving this dome. They come up with creative ways to play, and it is fun to put a tarp or blanket over it and make a castle, clubhouse, etc. (I plan to get the Lifetime cover as well.) I worried the little ones would fall through and hurt themselves, but it seems to be engineered so that those who can climb high are strong enough to hold on and swing down, while those I would worry about are not quite able to climb high enough to be in danger. The instructions were very clear--it probably would have taken one helpful son-in-law 1 1/2 to 2 hours to put it together alone, but it took 3 hours with his team of very young "helpers." It is easy to move. Of course, it looks great and is very sturdy and well made, like all Lifetime products I have tried. No nicks or chips--it is just a fine product.

Best Climber On The Market

Safe and sturdy with awesome rock climbing handles for extra safety! The kids loved it as well as the adults that tried it. It was bought for ages 3 and 5 but we had climbers as young as one and even in their twenties! Climbers can only climb to where their ability takes them and it is 5 ft. at it's highest point meaning no one is out of reach. It has a wide base (10 ft.) which means no anchoring and it is easy for one person to move around the yard for mowing. As with any kids project, the instructions a less then helpful but if you read through them carefully and use the pictures, it shouldn't be too difficult. Assembly time was around 2 hrs. for 2 people (faster if you have more involved). I wouldn't suggest putting it together alone because you really do need a second set of hands to hold pieces and prop sides.
