After using this product only one time I am a customer for life! It has kept my clothes and my whole closet smelling amazing for days and I have only washed my clothes once. No need to use perfume or lotion when you have clothes to wear that smell this good. I got this product for free for testing purposes but my opinions are my own. I have already bought more!

I work at a restaurant and I saved these for my work clothes because I come home smelling like fryers and grease. I washed my clothes and I took them out the washer to transfer to the dryer and they smelled so fresh and clean. This is something worth purchasing if you love to smell fresh all the time.

And since I do not trust anyone else to wash my clothes, that task falls on me. Being the sole laundry doer in my house, I'm always interested in the latest and greatest in laundry innovation. I was super excited when I found out BzzAgent was giving me the opportunity to try Downy Fresh Protect In-Wash Odor Shield. This product consists of little blue "odor-neutralizing" pellets, that promises to serve as an odor shield, basically a deodorant for your clothes. They claim to accomplish this by infusing fabrics with motion-activated technology which neutralizes odor and helps prevent the toughest odors as you move through your day. Unfortunately, I was not very impressed by this product. First of all, I was a little confused by the directions. On the free sample package, it states, "Toss pouch contents into washer at the beginning of the wash." On the Downy website, it states, "Toss the beads into the washer drum before you start the washer. Add fabric softener (if desired) into the dispenser. Drop in your laundry, set the cycle, and begin." After reading these directions, I thought I was supposed to use Downy Fresh Protect In-Wash Odor Shield IN PLACE OF my detergent. I guess I just assumed they would have mentioned somewhere in the directions to use it ALONG WITH my detergent if that was the case. Anyhow, after seeing there is absolutely no soap in the ingredients, I realized I am supposed to use it along with my detergent. I didn't want to use Downy Fresh Protect In-Wash Odor Shield on my clothing in case something went wrong. So I did the test run with the smelliest, and replaceable, items in my house- my animals' bedding! The load consisted of my dog's pillow and blankets, my cat's sheets, and my ferret's plush toys and blankets. As the directions state, I tossed the Downy Fresh Protect In-Wash Odor Shield pellets into the washer, I put the bedding in, added my detergent, and started the cycle. When they were finished, I transferred them to the dryer. I didn't use any fabric softener or dryer sheets because I didn't want to affect the scent. I use a pretty strong smelling detergent, so when the bedding was done, all I could smell was my detergent. I couldn't detect any extra freshness or added scent. But, if I understand correctly, the main purpose for this product is not to make your clothing smell good while you wash it., But rather to neutralize and help prevent odors while your wearing the clothing, like a deodorant would. To validate this claim, I performed a "sniff test" on my dogs blanket after he had laid in it for about 2 hours. Even though Downy Fresh Protect In-Wash Odor Shield promises 24 hour in-wear odor neutralization, his blanket had a "dog smell" after just 2 hours. And he is not a particularly smelly dog. So, unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with this product. It didn't make my laundry smell any better, and it didn't prevent or even neutralize odors while the clothing was in use. In my opinion, this product didn't benefit me or my laundry in any way, and seems unnecessary. I will be sticking to my regular laundry routine, and will not be purchasing Downy Fresh Protect In-Wash Odor Shield in the future.

They didn't leave any type of residue on my clothing and we're super easy to use. You just pour them into the washer before putting the clothes in. I definitely recommend if you want an extra scent boost in your laundry.

I've been using another product for a while. But after receiving a sample of the Downy In Wash odor shield, I think I'm hooked. I will definitely be buying this product. My clothes smell so fresh and for much longer than the other product I was using before. I received these products complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster. All opinions are my own.

This product works so well!! I was very doubtful when I first received it. I thought the smell would last until I folded my clothes but NO! The smell lasts weeks on clean clothes. Even while I was wearing my clothes I kept getting whiffs of freshness! I love these. I will definitely be letting all my friends abt it. I received this product for free for testing purposes but I will be purchasing more soon!!

Their have been times were I wash my husbands clothes, and they come out still smelling like his body odor!! No matter how many times I wash them it still smells the same. With this it takes out all odors and is amazing.

Are these cute little beads safe? I found out the answer. YES, safe as can be and they make your laundry smell amazing. As soon as I ripped open the pouch I could smell the clean fresh scent. I sprinkled them all over the laundry and hoped for the best. The best did happen! Fresh clean clothes that make you proud of your laundry. Such a great LIFE HACK!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have tried the downy fresh and protect beads. At first i was kind of scared since i have never used bead type of laundry detergent. But the beads neutralized all the odors on my clothes all day long. it was like deodorant for my clothes because it kept me fresh all day long!

I have bought this product before with a different scent, but this is such an amazing scent! I like that it stays in the clothes for an extended period of time (weeks with my clothes that I've not worn or laundry that's been washed with it prior but not for this round). I also like that, with my skin sensitivity, I haven't gotten any breakouts by using this product. I received this product for free to review and all opinions I've stated are of my own doing.
