Great for the schwinn website sale price

My wife and i both use the elliptical regularly. The feel is close to the elliptical machines at Planet Fitness. It took time and work to assemble but I know it was done correctly. I would like a brighter screen and the heart rate monitor is a little jumpy. The easiest setting might be too hard for someone in poor condition. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

I LOVE THIS BIKE!!

I try to ride a little every day and work my way up in time and resistance. It's SO easy to use and operate. It's VERY quiet so I can ride while watching tv! It keeps a log of my past uses also. Its seriously an overall fantastic bike that is also comfortable and easy on my joints and back! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this bike!

Very Impressed with Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike

Husband recovering from back surgery. His physical therapist said he should use recumbent exercise bike. We are in our 80's and were surprised it was so easy for us to put together. It is very quiet and surprisingly comfortable. It's not easy for us to walk anymore so this machine is perfect for maintaining cardio and strength. We read some criticisms about the lack of a back lit monitor, but that is not a problem. Very impressed with the engineering and packaging for shipment.

Definitely

After another back surgery, my legs have been very weak. This bike is easy to get in and out of for someone like me who has trouble walking. I've been building up from 5 minutes to longer workouts---now up to 15 minutes. It's very sturdy and solid, and really quiet. It's an excellent bike for senior citizens or someone working to strengthen their legs.

Not perfect but good enough to ensure I get exercise!

I bought this because I have a three-year-old and my life has become determined by his schedule and needs, which means I am not getting enough exercise time and I am tied to the house when he's napping or sleeping. I needed a small-footpring elliptical because I only had a bit of room for it in my bedroom. This one is much smaller than typical but big enough to feel like it won't fall over. It works pretty well; the only thing I don't like is that it hops around a little when I'm using it -- so I have to move it periodically or it runs into the wall. I didn't expect it would move like that, but I still think it's worth it for someone like me who is not going to get exercise without finding this rare machine that fits into a small space and wokrs well enough to get my heart rate going. It's also not as quiet as I expected from the description, but it's certainly not distractingly loud.

Seems fine for the price

I incorporate it into my routine to switch up exercises on different days. It took 2 hours exactly from getting it out of the box to plugging it in to use it. The magnetic wheel is quiet but the rollers under the petals can be annoying. You can hear them rolling the whole time and I keep the rail lubricated. But unlike the fan bike I have, you can still hear the tv if you choose to use this while watching tv. The only thing I don't really like is how the wheels are attached to the rail. There not, they just sit on it. If you go apparently too fast for the machine the wheels must slightly lift off the rail and then thump back down. I can't go the speed I'd like sometimes because I'm afraid I'll break the wheels on the rail. I notice this more on the easiest setting when I go faster. It runs smoothly except for that. I do not see a problem with the lowest setting like some have mentioned as far as it being too hard to use, thankfully. It seems to be set just right on my machine. I have noticed when you use some of the preprogrammed settings on the machine that are timed it does get stuck on one ""interval"" before skipping over the next one. I do like the machine. I'll use it, the magnetic motor is whisper quiet, its the right height for my 5'5"" height, the stride is right for me. It would be nice it the moving handles had an adjustable height. And I wish the pedals were attached differently somehow that you could go faster without fear of breaking the machine. If I had known it was going to do that I may have thought more before buying it, but truthfully, for the price, I got it on sale, and the reviews from other companies comparable ellipticals I can't really complain. At full price I think it's a bit much. If it holds up I'll be happy. Even my husband uses it.

A pretty solid choice

This is a pretty good choice when it comes to ellipticals. It's quiet and fairly easy to assemble. There were a few screw holes in the foot pad that didn't line up very well and I had to muscle it into the right place/angle but the rest of the machine was easy to assemble. The stride length is pretty good, but I prefer longer. It feels smooth enough that I'm happy with it, although our old gym's elliptical was much smoother. But at this price point it's a solid choice and nothing wrong with it. #sweepstakes

Purchased as a replacement for my Schwinn 430 Elliptical

I have CHD and exercise everyday for heart health. I bought this machine to replace the Schwinn 430 Elliptical that I've used for the past seven years. In fact, I'd still be using that older one but it needed parts that were no longer available. I bought this 411 because its smaller and our house is small. I've used the 411 for a week now and I'm getting used to it. The console doesn't store any data, so to track my results, I have to make a quick note. If I were to customize a workout, I would have to do so each day as the console can't save it. Also, at the start of the workout, the left runner feels lumpy, but settles out after a few minutes. I've checked and rechecked to insure all screws and nuts are tight. I really like the footpads. The are much smaller than those on the 430 so my feet hold their position much better. Assembly was straight forward. The only problem was that one of the screws holding the left handle in place would not go in all the way. I think the problem is in the female connection that may have taken too much paint. I fixed the problem by cutting off a 1/4 inch of the screw and tightened it completely.

Too much resistance

Only problem is that the elliptical has too much resistance at the lowest level. May not be a problem for younger people, but is for an older person like myself. I have an older version of the same Schwinn elliptical at our summer home that I have used for several years and it does not have the problem of too much resistance.

I feel ripped off

The rollers need constant application of lubricant, every few days, or else they get noisy and start to melt. Between that and the fact you need to dose it in lubricant it is the messiest exercise machine I have ever used. Within less than a year one of the rollers shattered completely and is now unusable. There are no replacement parts online and the number they list on the manual is a robot playing recorded messages trying to sell you elderly health products. Fatally flawed product that I would never recommend. If you are looking for a compact elliptical you probably not storing/using it in a dedicated exercise room, which makes the general mess this thing creates all the much worse. On top of that, even with lubricant applied if you go a moderately fast pace or faster the rollers of the elliptical have a tendency to come off the rails since there's nothing actually holding them down other than gravity. This is a massive safety hazard on top of the damage it can cause to the machine and the interruption it causes to your workout. You have to go slower on this thing than cheaper and (seemingly) flimsier compact ellipticals.
