The dark brown color looked like the image online, and assembly was very easy. I used plyers to remove the protective plastic from the legs so they could be screwed into the predrilled holes underneath the nightstand. I used a drill to attach the knob & 2 handles, but a Phillips screw driver would have worked as well.

Solid, heavy and perfect size. We purchased two nightstands in white and very happy with them. Lots of compliments!
