what to expect

California oranges seem to be the best. However, in most of the bags I've purchased there are usually 1 or 2 or 3 that ripen faster than the others. I'm thinking it's because some older oranges are thrown in the bags with the younger ones. If these were picked and packaged from the same orchards at the same time, they should ripen and, subsequently, rot evenly. Since it's difficult to determine which ones are fresher, I almost always lose a couple. Consequently, they end up costing me more than the purchase price.

Lesson learned

I had someone from Sam's club to the shopping for me and both bags of these oranges had rotten oranges in them and I didn't know until after I came home from surgery a day and a half later and both bags were totally ruined. I really do love these oranges though they are super sweet.

Not so good

I'm sorry, but I have to rate these oranges very, very low, because most of them were dry at the stem area. I didn't think it was worth a trip to return them, so I kept them, and ended up just eating the good parts. I will not buy oranges from Sam's again. You have to be really careful with fresh fruit.

Great flavor, but very thick skins

We were a little surprised at how thick the skins were. They looked like large oranges in the bag, but after pealing them, the orange proper was a pretty standard, or even smaller, size. Still, they tasted great and we were not disappointed that we bought them.

Dried out oranges.

I've purchased these 4-5 times and they have all been mediocre. Some are dried out and others soft and mushy. One bag was so bad that I returned it. Lately I've been cutting out the dry parts and eating them anyway. Sad. I've had good ones and keep hoping for that again.

Unhappy in Pearl River

They look good thru the sack but mold within a week when left in the original packaging which is not mesh so little air can circulate. I get four or five moldy oranges in every bag. Since the mold occurs after seven days customer service won’t deal with it. I’m not happy after having it happen two times in a row over six weeks

GROSS!

Purchased these Wednesday, July 1. Didn't see the 6/22 on the tag until after I got home. If that was the expiration date, then Sam's should have yanked them out of the store. The first 2 oranges I started to eat were as dry as sandpaper. I LOATHE DRY ORANGES! Threw those 2 out. Today, I had 3 with green mold on them. Tossed those out in my back yard for the critters. So far, I got ONE GOOD ORANGE out of the whole bunch! This has happened to me in the past with their oranges, so much that I actually didn't buy them for several months. Well, THIS WAS THE VERY LAST BATCH OF ORANGES I WILL EVER PURCHASE AT SAM'S. I'M DONE! Not throwing my hard-earned money away on these skanky oranges any more! I'll just suck it up and pay a bit more for them at my local grocery store, instead. Buying oranges at Sam's is a crap shoot. Not a game I want to play anymore.

Dry and deceiving

These oranges are terribley dry. They look beautifully tasty and big, then i find the pearl is thick, the actual fruit is very small. The fruit has very little juice.. this is the 2nd time i purchased threes oranges and the same result.. not happy with these oranges

Rotted

Received a grocery order yesterday and when I went to complete our meal prep for the week, I realized the entire 8lb bag of oranges were rotted. I am so disappointed! I took 5 pics of the entire bag and this application is not allowing me to post them.

Orange is a color.

Citrusy. These oranges are significantly orangey. They look, feel and taste like oranges. They make great juice when squeezed (squeezing citrus fruit is called "juicing" just like injecting yourself with anabolic steroids!). I bought one bag and only one fruit was bad and needed to be thrown away. This seemed like a reasonable loss ratio. I made nearly 8 cups of juice from one bag. It tasted great. I called it "orange juice" - I think it could become popular.
