This mattress is VERY firm, it works well for my husband's back but too firm for me, luckily, I read the reviews and one person stated the mattress topper solved the probuand it really did! However, if there are two of you, I would highly recommend getting the split to keep everyone happy, especially when one wants the head up and the other would like it flat.

This is the 3rd one I've had over many yrs. The last one lasted 10yrs and was still ok, but started to get little too soft. I like a very firm one. My first one was when I had back surgery and it "saved" my life. My back pain was excruciating, but minute I hit that bed, it was gone all night. It takes a few weeks, maybe a month or so to "break it in".. so I liked the firm one which is very firm, but after a couple weeks it settled in to my body. Now it's great. I'd strongly recommend you find a Temper-Pedic factory to try them out. They have a 90 day exchange policy, so you can use it for 90 days, and during that time you can exchange for a different one if you like. Highly recommend.

The reason we went with a Tempur Pedic is the success we've had with our other mattress. We absolutely love this mattress! We bought our first Tempur Pedic 20 yrs ago. It served us very well! We decided to get a King and wanted to stay with a TP. My wife river dances in her sleep (restless leg) which is why we bought one years ago. We both sleep very well on this! It supports but is really comfortable, I don't feel like I sink into the mattress, & I don't feel my wife toss about. I sleep deep and hard on this mattress. There is an accusation that I have slept so deep, there was some deep rhythmic breathing occurring (snoring in laymen's terms! LOL). When it was unboxed and set up, we knew it would be hard as a brick...so don't just jump onto it! We put several blankets on it to get it to soften up a bit. The first night it was pretty hard - which we expected and were told it would be. That was the worst of it. We've had it a month now and although a firm mattress, it is softening and very comfortable. We like this better than the breeze which we slept on somewhere. I didn't feel the support of the breeze like I do with this one or our very first TP. Bottom line -- I sleep like a brick, I don't feel my wife move around, & our 75lb Golden Retriever sleeps well on it too! Remember it will take a couple of days for it to soften when first unpacked (it was VERY cold and in a warehouse when delivered)...we are sold on this mattress!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used to wake up with a body ache, painful shoulder, not well rested and tired before using tempur pedic firm mattress. When the tenpur pedic mattress arrived, I was skeptical initially because it says firm because when I lay down on it, the mattress slightly conforms to my body. After a week of using it, I wake up everyday without bodyaches!!! My shoulder pain from sleeping on my sides are gone! I wake up fresh and well rested! There's a cooling effect on top of the mattress as well that will definitely help during summer season. I've finally found the mattress that my body loves sleeping on!

Let me just start by saying that this mattress has literally changed my life. I used to sleep on a traditional spring mattress (that was over 10 years old). I would wake up everyday in pain and not have a restful nights sleep. I could never get comfortable no matter how hard I tried and my sciatica didn't help. I finally decided to break down and try a Tempur-pedic mattress and I'm so glad I did! I fall asleep instantly and wake up refreshed. Plus, I wake up up without any pain ready to take on the day! I can't imagine my life without this mattress! It's the best investment I've made!

This is what I imagine mattresses in heaven feel like. I had serious back pains with our old mattress. I knew I had to get serious about my mattress choice. I was hesitant to spend this much but it was without a doubt money well spent. My back pains are gone and I am no longer tossing and turning at night. You can't put a price on a good nights sleep.

This bed is made beautifully - I love everything about it... EXCEPT it is way too firm for what I thought a medium bed should be. My husband likes a firm mattress, I like them softer, so we thought a medium hybrid would be perfect. He is a big man (over 6'4 about 300 lbs.) and I'm half that. What I love is that I don't feel him move throughout the night, or getting up. I don't roll into the center and into him due to the difference in our weight. What I don't like is that I feel like I'm sleeping on the floor. I have tried this bed for 8 weeks now, and it hasn't gotten better. I wake with a back ache (between my shoulder blades) and I'm so disappointed my body won't adjust. I will be returning it for a softer feeling mattress and hopefully, my husband will adjust because he just loves it the way it is....

I fell in love with this bed the first time I laid on it. Tempur-pedic nailed it with this bed, its not too soft or too firm. I fall asleep faster, wake up feeling refreshed, and ready for the day! Before owning this bed, I had the cloud, which I also loved, but this bed is 10 times better! The only thing I do not like about this bed, is the fact I can't really tell that it sleeps any cooler than my cloud did.

We bought our first Tempur-Pedic bed 12 years ago. The foam started to sink and became very uncomfortable. After looking at other beds for months, my husband and I came back to Tempur-Pedic and tried the Tempur-Pedic Pro Adapt Firm bed and that was it. We love our new bed. If you have back problems like my husband and I, we suggest a firm bed. Soft tends to sink after a year or so.....Thank you Tempur-Pedic for making a great bed.

Bottom line: it's super comfortable, but sleeps a little hot I tried so many mattresses and even purchased a different brand mattress that felt comfortable in the store, but when I slept on it at home it hurt my hips when I slept on my side, so I returned it. Even a medium or plush mattress felt too firm. Then I tried the ProAdapt Soft and I loved it, but kept looking elsewhere since I hadn't planned to spend that much. After trying many more mattresses, I eventually made the right decision and invested in the ProAdapt Soft. It is so comfortable! I truly love it. I am mostly a side sleeper but with this mattress I don't feel any discomfort on my hips or other pressure points. I had also read that being a lighter-weight female might be why so many other beds felt too firm, because I wasn't really sinking into them. With this mattress, that is not a problem at all. The one thing I don't like about this mattress is that I started sleeping much hotter. It has gotten better as I've gotten used to it and only bothers me sometimes now. That said, if I had the money, I would probably upgrade to one of the cooling models. But I am still extremely happy with my purchase!
