Bought 2 for our camper

Recommended by a family member and they were spot on. We bought two, use for camping and love them! Was concerned when the recall occurred. However all fears were erased by the efficient, professional manner exhibited by the Westinghouse people I talked to and the quick repair. This is a wonderful generator. BG

So far, so good!

Poured oil in, filled with gas, started on first pull! I ran it the first time for 9 hours (powering a large fan) and there's still gas left in it, so it appears the unit will operate on a single tank of fuel for a full work day, or full night depending on how you're planning to use it. My only criticism is: The side-panel you remove to access the oil dipstick and fill nozzle doesn't come off when you unscrew it, and theres NO handle or other physical features you can get a grip on to remove the panel... so you end up wondering what you're doing wrong, then when you get a flat screw driver to pry it off, the action damages the soft plastic housing. There needs to be a molded feature in the panel (or a handle strapped to it) so you can remove that side panel without prying it and causing damage to the housing. It's very quiet. Operating on the back patio you could barely hear it though the walls and (closed) windows).

Better than Honda out of the Box - Time will tell

Just received the IGEN 2500 - Started on 3rd Pull (first pull after warmed up) - The motor stared a little rough but quickly smoothed out after about 20 mins. I have 2 hours of run time so far - all gauges / indicators appear to work properly. All the indicators and USB Charging ports are great to have ! Big improvement over the competition. I loaded it with Lights, Air Mattress pump, Blender, and hair dryer - the generator did not miss a beat - it ramped up smoothly to meet the demand. The max capacity output only showed 50%. The 2200 Running Watts vs the Honda 1600 Running Watts is a big advantage. The no load noise level is higher than the Honda but under load, I would rate this generator very close to the Honda - (but it is a little louder than the Honda). Not to mention that the Westinghouse is half the price of Honda. If this Generator continues to run like this, and shows a similar lifetime as the Honda - it will set a new standard for camping generators - One thing I did not like was that the IGEN 2500 is marketed at < 3% THD like Honda - But the Spec Sheet shows < 5% THD - Westinghouse needs to fix the Generator or their Advertising Claim to match their Spec Sheet.

Started right up!

I just took it out of the box and added oil and gas.....started up on second pull. Very quiet at start up. Checked with voltmeter, looked good. Hooked up a small heater with 600, 900 and 1500 watt setting. Let run several minutes on each setting and now I'm going to drain the oil and add new oil just to be safe. But I'm very pleased so far!

Dependable

I've used this generator a handful of times now. I really like the features including the LCD display which shows the hours, fuel level, etc. The only problem I've run into is it didn't have enough surge watts to start my AC unit in my travel trailer. I had read reviews that said it would so that's a little disappointing. But besides that, it's been a good generator.

Power in a small package!!

I chose the iGEN2500 because of the extra wattage in a unit of the same size and weight as units with lesser wattage. Unpacked the iGEN added gas and oil, and unit started on second pull. Have used it on varying loads and performs very well. Not as quiet as the much more expensive Honda but........I've got more available watts!! Very pleased, just wish the cover was still available!!

Optimistic

Purchased it to power my home that has frequent outages. I am an ex electrician and after much research decided that this unit has superior features. Received it and have been traveling for work. I have not had any outages yet so I have not even taken it out of the box yet. Westinghouse sent me a recall on this unit due to a fire problem. I am happy that I have not had to use it yet.

Great Features and Performance

I purchased the iGen 2600 to use for temporary power in case of a utility outage. I've had it for about month. It was packed well. Studied the manual which was clearly written and easy to follow with respect to setup, operation, and maintenance. It included exploded views with parts lists, schematics and specifications. I opened the maintenance cover to view the quality of both components and assembly. All looked good and component parts seemed to be robust. I then added oil and fuel following the startup procedure and then started the generator. Initially it ran a little rough which could have been debris from manufacture in the fuel system or possibly an air bubble in the fuel system. In diagnosing, I found that the spark plug gap was a bit off so I set it to the exact specification called out in the manual. I ran the unit over several hours throughout the month loading it to various levels and changing loads. This included various types of loads including multiple motors including a vacuum cleaner, sump pump, and electric lawn maintenance tools. I was impressed that even with multiple motors running I was able to start another without noticing any lugging. You couldn't tell the difference in the startup from when powered from primary power. The generator motor quickly would speed up in an effortless manner. I repeated these tests in varying combinations without issue. After running for a total of about 6 hours, I changed the oil to see if it appeared to have any debris from manufacture or otherwise. It seemed perfectly clean and uncontaminated. Considering my experience thus far, I would recommend this generator.

So far reliable, quiet, easy to transport

I've used it for multiple track days running tire warmers and my AC, a friend has used it to operate portions of his house this winter during a multi-day outage and it's just worked. I'd like to see just a bit longer surge capacity as my AC is a bear to hot start but that's not the generator's fault. My only operational issue so far is the fuel level float arm either doesn't have enough bouyency or there is too much drag on the setup. I have to use a bent wire to pull the float up with each fill up, it reads the falling tank level fine but doesn't reset on it's own when you top off.
